Yeah I just started watching this too and though Im not a huge mecha anime fan I like this for some reason (one cuz Lulu is hawt!!!) Plus even though its done by CLAMP it looks a bit different then Tsubasa and Holic.

To be honest, only the body proportion of the characters plus Lulu and Suzaku are with the CLAMPish look, others are nothing near. The guy who does the arts for the characters is actually Kimura Takashiro(木村貴宏)

Hmm... Now that I look at it closely - it has some VERY interesting shots in the beggining.
Spoiler:

I wonder what that implicates concerning the power of Geass and C.C.'s relationship with Lulu?

So Britannia is supposed to be America? As if they'd be dumb enough to not only conquere a country and let the people know that an American governer is in charge from that point on, but change its name (especially to something like "Area 11") and openly look down on its citizens as an inferior race. America would at least try to get the people living in Japan to believe that they still had sovereignty.

Yeah, but England really can't be classified as the world's only super power, and the civilians seemed to match what I know of the American stereotype (cold, selfish) more than the English stereotype (except for the tea-sipping chess-playing nobles)...

I shall begin posting in every thread and rating the episodes on this 10(11)-episode marathon.

This episode played with my feelings. 'Nuff said. 10/10.

Hmm, Suzaku is very altruistic. To give his only gas mask to his friend...

The opening 5 minutes were horrible. The chess scene went out of its way to be cheesy and cliche "supercool smart maincharacter guy."

BTW, it's interesting how similar was Suzaku's attack on Lelouch to Lancelot's attack on his Sutherland - exactly the same moves, but in a mecha.
Makes you think that being an "ace pilot" means "being a good martial artist"

IIRC on ep12 (when Shirley was checking the Britannia Empire Symphony Orchestra tickets, during class), the teacher stated (can't remember the translation that well and I haven't dled the sub yet) that Britain/Britannia had lost the Battle of Trafalgar and the European maritime blocus (probably led by someone like Napoleon, if he ever existed in this universe) on the country had resumed, presumably forcing the royal family to emigrate to the American colonies...where the insurrection for independence had been incidentally crushed. In other words, the country we know as the United States of America never existed in the Code Geass world...so likening Britannia to the U.S. doesn't make the cut.

In other words, America became the new mainland. I'm not sure what became of Great Britain and the Isles afterwards, though.

he reminds me of light from death note. Its earie actually. The both have some special "power" that they use for their own personal gains. Though while light tries to make a "perfect" world, he is just trying to get revenge, though he would probably gladly have his own empire/dictatorship.

Sorry but since when did Britain = England? I thought it meant England,Scotland,Wales & Northern Ireland

Also Brittania (though in the form of Britain) is actually a thinly veiled disguise for a criticism of certain aspects of the US governments policies in current events

excom, that was a year and a half ago. >_>

I don't think it matters much what Shiroth said at this point.
