If the information is correct and future Spice and Wolf short stories are NOT out the question, that does at least suggest the ending won't be a 'bad' one, assuming that Hasekura wouldn't just drop Holo and Lawrence and just write about the past or the side characters.
The side characters are generally second fiddle to Lawrence and Holo so I find it hard to see that happening, unless the side stories are deliberately setup purely to tell us more about the more prominent side characters (Nora, Dianna etc). I'll certainly miss Spice and Wolf when it finishes, although with Yen Press' release date that'll take quite some time. I wish we'd get some news on the possibility of a 3rd season; with the books so close to ending it'd seem a good and sensible time to do another series or two to tie in with this and make the most out of the series economically whilst the popularity remains in Japan (because lets be fair thats where the companies in charge care about!)

[, "Well, even if the end was bad, the journey was surely worth it." Mind you, the amount of pouting and complaining will be proportional to how much it didn't end "my way," which could be weeks, months, or even years.[/QUOTE]
At last. . . . An honest answer. I won't tell you my reaction to when a beloved tv show didn't have a happily ever after ending. JThree Guys! Do you remember in some of the theme/title credits they have scenes where a somewhat lacking in cloths Holo and Lawrence are out in some sort of winter forest, and it looks like they're either seeing each other for the first time/or they're breaking up. Could it be in Yosito? And this possibly could be their final moments together? In the series, we've already seen how the two meet, so those scenes didn't make sense, unless they were foreshadowing the ending. Maybe? JThree Whoops. I'm sorry this was the light novel discussion not the anime. I trust Hasekura... really. Hmm. . . I hope you're right. JThree Last edited by james0246; 2010-12-07 at 01:04. |

^^ Yen Press has said several times they don't set a specific release date within the month for a book. They only set the month. The specific dates you see online are set by the individual booksellers based on an estimated date picked by the retailer. YP staggers its releases throughout the days of the month. Most of YP's releases come out in the last week, but I've bought YP books as early as the first week of the month.
Long story short: I'm not all that surprised to see that S&W 3 (manga) is already in stock. Come to think of it, I think I saw it on the shelf at my local Borders this morning.

I thought the short description at the Book Depository was humorous if a bit misleading:

The slip-on covers are horrible, cheesy. I take them off and stuff them under a nigthstand as soon as I get them. I received my Vol 3 from Amazon yesterday. It's all more of this: (NSFW?) http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs50/f/20...razyRabbit.jpg -.- |

I'm scared... I have not seen the new cover ANYWHERE on the internet. I'm waiting for my copy to come, and I'll keep the dust jacket, but still, I'm afraid of an epic fail again! If the make another "Tail Fail", I'll be quite displeased to say the least!

I believe the main story officially ends at volume 16, though there's talk that side-stories could follow soon after. I'll have to wait a long time to get all the volumes from Yen Press, but if that's what I must do, that's what I must do.
