I didn't hear much of Ayumi for a while because I think her Secret album wasn't that nice to me.
Thank god she made a roar back with GUILTY and especially her new single MIRRORCLE WORLD which is like catchy. |

I'm trying to find you..

Many people view Ayumi Hamasaki in many ways. True her voice might be chipmunky-ish and all. But it is a fact that Ayumi enriched the Jpop music industry. Her style of music is very distinct. She makes decisions of what kind of music she is aiming for. She is a Japan idol for many years.
She impresses me with her concerts. The messages she sent through her music and every image she portrays every album. Yeah she's like a Japan Madonna. Consistently evolving herself. I'm surprised she still last until now. I've been a fan of Ayumi for year because she's very consistent as an idol. Her music, her image, her style and her dedication. Despite being deaf in one ear. She continues to strive on just for her fans. And always trying new things. I always like how she mix rock. techno and strings into her music. It's like whenever you hear her song, you'll know it's Ayu. And you have to admit she has very wonderful big budget music videos, sweet haunting ballads and catchy beats XD My fave songs ---> Surreal Part of Me I am Maria Naturally No More Words About You True there are some songs that I dislike and I think she does oversung some songs with her high pitch voice.. which I find it tad annoying sometimes. But I do admire her in many other ways. She's Ayu to meh! |

My fav songs r always the remixed trance ones (though inspire is my all time fav) I wish she would put out another ayu-trance... i think the last 1 was around 2001???

I used to love Namie Amuro but when she got married and had a baby she sorta left the music scenes then Ayumi overtook her no.1 J-pop queen status and I tried not to like her but her music was undeniably something I like...then I just accepted her cos I think she's good and Namie's good..they are both so different anyway. During Ayumi's release of her 2nd, 3rd, 4th album and A Best I was madly in love with her music and then it cooled down for a few years...these few years its sparked up again and I especially love her last album 'Guilty'...she's been singing a lot more hard tone music these last few albums than her previous few with seemed more smooth pop stuff.
I recently read her wiki page...shocked that she is deaf in one ear! Full respect to her thought as she's always written her own lyrics and written songs herself...I prefer people who write stuff as opposed to those who just get pampered and sing what others write. |

And yeah, she can't sing. I agree that music is subjective and it depends on the person, but I just don't like her. Remixed or not remixed. I just don't like her.

I mostly admire the melodies and instrument use in her songs, but sometimes I question whether she actually wrote the instrumental parts or someone else did it for her, because many of them are so distinctly different.
Now and then I go back to her older hits from 1999-2001, because I feel she's been losing creativity recently. Her albums are getting closer to generic rock as she went along. There's something wrong if you start propping up your sales figures by releasing singles compilations a year from each other. |
