Well, I despise Haruhi for being an epic bitch, although I'm exaggerating a bit, one of the reasons I was initially turned off by the anime was because of how ridiculous it seemed to me that everyone just let Haruhi do whatever she wanted. And whatever she wanted was often the most mean-spirited thing there was, all done with a happy gleeful smile on her face. Of course, she's gotten a bit better recently, even a little cute, but I still can't find myself liking her all that much.

Also, I haven't read the novels in forever, so I probably don't remember all the details correctly.
