I think Chuu2 had amazing art direction and use of colour. They changed the colour palette between the real world and the fantasy world, when the series reached the drama parts they also changed the colour and the lighting to make the scenes more restrained or sober. The most amazing thing about their last shows is the use of lighting, specially Hyouka and Chuu2 where they used it to set the tone and the mood for a scene, with spectacular results in Chuu2 BTW. |

I don't like Chuu2's palette. Never liked the KEY palettes either. It's just too gaudy and inorganic. I feel Free! is very close to that, as opposed to K-On!'s or Tamako Market's more restrained use of colourfulness.
I consider Hyouka one of, if not THE best use of digital photography techniques and colour coordination in TV anime. Compared to that, nothing else Kyoani has done comes close. |

Hyouka is lightyears ahead of Chuu2.

Oh and whoever voices Haruka sounds a lot like Ryohei Kimura. I personally think the voice doesn't fit him, but maybe it'll grow on me... |
