I decided to continue Volume 3 first, though updates may be sporadic.

Anyway, the structure of Volume 3 is as follows:

Prologue: Godou and Yuri get on the plane to Italy; Godou recalls how he became a Campione.
Chapter 1: how Godou got himself sent off to Italy for spring break in the first place
Chapter 2: Godou actually arrives in Sardinia
Chapters 3-7: the rest of the events leading to him becoming a Campione
Epilogue: Godou and Yuri get off the plane.

So essentially, Episode 1 of the anime cuts away everything before Chapter 3.

Personally, I don't think Volume 3 would be that fun to read without knowing Godou's future powers and the ten forms.
Volume 1 works way better as an introduction to the series.

Timeline-wise I keep hearing people said that vol 11 came after vol 3 so that's where I'm betting.

That's right, Volume 11 is the one where Godou fights Salvatore, and Erica gains her title of Diavolo Rosso.

Man, the more I read of Campione! the more I feel sad about what "Campi!" (coined by Kadi) could've been!

I know people are looking forward to the "present" vols (6+) on Baka-Tsuki, but I'm actually looking more forward to 3 & 11 the most .. oh Erica!

There are summaries on JCafe24 under the Campione section, you need an account and 1 post to be able to view the summaries. Although you won't find all the summaries there because some of it is more of a teaser but there are still some summaries of missing Volumes from BT.

I wonder how the anime would do it because they skipped it Godou said something along the line where he tested his power against other campione in the 2nd episode though... but only a week had passed since he became campione. Is the time-frame in vol 11 really that short?

V3core is set during spring break.
V11 covers the end of spring break and some events from Godou's first month in high school.
V1 starts one week after the end of V11, I think (V1C1or2 should have the exact time)
Forgot the details of V2.
V3wraparound is set in the beginning of summer holidays.
V4 starts right after V3wraparound, covers the middle of summer holidays.
Forgot the details of V5.
V6+7 take place at the end of September.
V8 is all over the place, one short story happens before V6+7, one afterwards, one is set three years prior and two are about preparing the cultural festival in October, I think.
V9 contains that cultural festival in October, plus a few more days.
V10... from what I remember it covers a week or two in October and/or November.
V12 covers most of December.

He didn't lose them until WWIII, in vol.16 he got injured enough to say bye-bye to his special attributes of Mary the Virgin.

That actually sounds far worse than what we got Had they gone with that, it would be a much more drastic change to swallow- Just like Cecilla from IS Anime after her defeat, minus the background exposition.

Erica by terms of strengths is second in the harem after Ena. Erica can fight against a lot of opponents and can best them, the only ones she can't touch or match is probably the Mythical Creatures and Gods, Mythical creatures are powerful and even prodigies of Magic organizations like Erica and Lily can't stand toe to toe with them. Campiones however see them as easy prey, even Godou. It really does outline the differences of power between people who know Magic compared those of Campiones.
