Already pestering my friend who works at my local theatre to secure me a midnight showing ticket... 3 weeks in advance. My dorm room's white board features a countdown to the opening.

Saw Yahoo!'s HD trailer weeks ago. Nearly shorted my keyboard out with drool.

I cannot wait. ^_^

I'm just as curious about the crowd that will be there for the midnight showing as I am in the movie itself. I went to a midnight showing of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest last summer, and when I went, there were tons of "hardcore" fans dressed up as pirates. Well, turns out not a single one of them ever saw the first movie. My friends and I are huge fans of the 1st movie. We got all the sly references to the original movie and laughed or "ooo"-ed at them. And when...

Spoiler:

...we went nuts. No one else did. Credits roll and people are asking, "Who the **** is that guy?" We spend the next 10 minutes explaining this to half of the room, I kid you not.

I go to see the movie again a few days later with my parents. Credits roll, dude behind me asks, "Who the hell is that guy?" I spend the next five minutes of my life explaining it to this guy. I had told my mom that the ending made the entire movie worth the price of admission and then some, and without telling her more than that, she leans over to me half-way through the movie and says...

Spoiler:

So I'm really curious. Will all these people with me at the midnight showing actually have ever seen the first two movies or not? >_>

Anyway...

Can't wait!

Obviously many people show up to events for the "event" not because they have a fscking clue. Many years ago, I went to a Tull concert at which there were many young people who had no idea who the group was. It was just an expensive excuse to get stoned apparently.

I'm invested in the Pirates (having seen the first two acts) so I have to stick around for the last act.

you know what was really silly when i saw the trailer, back in December i think it was when Pirates 2 was in cinemas the script of the 3rd movie leaked out, well partly.. it atleased contained important parts of the movie when it comes to Jack Sparrow and the newly added characters together with their journey to World's End.. i still have the script on my pc and i was quite shocked to find out that the script had NOT been a joke... it was infact very real and the scenes showed int he trailer prooves it.. when i first read it i was thinking that it was too silly for words as for Jack's location and on how to get there,, but when i saw the trailer i was indeed shocked that they actually did it...

im surely going to watch the movie.. but i am sure it will be one more of those blockbuster money gaining movies

The thing with this movie is.. you've seen part 1.. and loved it.. weird old witty Jack with the spacstic moves.. "gee wizz gosh darn it, I wish they made a second one! "

So it came.. and you went to see Dead man's chest and liked it... it wasn't like one.. but it was pretty decent with lots of very impressive CGI and a fairly good piratemyth to boot ( haha, "boot".. you know.. bootstrap bill.. hmm.. no? tough crowd) . then came the end.. ARGH!!!!

And now you HAVE to see this one.. else it won't make sense and your pirate life won't be complete..

Even if it is a cashcow in this trilogy, people that saw 2 are going to go to this.
I have a bad feeling it's going to be anticlimactic ( is that a word?)
we all know what's going to be happening..

What witty and spastic things will Jacky boy do now.. what funny scenes will the guy from "The Office, UK" with the wooden eye and his vertically challenged matey do this time.. and how many times will the monkey steal the eye and be comic relief in dire situations..

I'll still go and see it though.. or else my secret pirate life won't be complete

I'm definitely going to see it.. if nothing more than to end my curiosity the resulted from the god-awful cliff-hanger from the end of the second film.

By the way, I like Jack Sparrow. Johnny Depp is awesome in those films. I like his role in Pirates more than any of his other roles.

Why are people saying that the ending of the 2nd movie was a BAD cliff-hanger?

I thought it was just flat-out awesome. That made the price of admission and being there at midnight totally worth it. And it's not even a cliff-hanger. You KNOW certain things can and can't happen. It's all a matter of filling in the blanks.

And yes, I'm not a big Johnny Depp fan but I do love 2 of his roles:

1. Rue in Chocolat
2. Captain... CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean

Hoo-ah!

Me too..
He is the perfect actor for that part.. only Depp can pull that off..
I can't think of another actor who I'd see take it to that level of weirdness

This movie looks pretty awesome
I was one of the few that enjoyed the second one so yeah can't wait...

Jack is one of my favorite male characters :P he's funny, but serious (kinda) at the same time :P and the way he talks and uses hand gestures (like a drunk person) is amusing...

Oh yeah and johnny depp is the perfect actor for him xD

It was a "bad" cliffhanger because it was obviously designed for the sole purpose of sucking people into the next film. A gross display of commercialism. Not that most people would realize this, but to my cynicism, it stands out like a red flag.

"Gross display of commercialism."

Uh huh........... Yeah............ >_>

Hmmm............ I'm just going to walk over here and ponder the total irrationality of that statement in the context of saying it makes the cliffhanger a "bad" cliffhanger...

I hope so, because I was totally under the impression that he was dead... you know, after he was shot and fell to the ground.... supposedly dead.

Well, I guess not! They just gave him CPR for his gunshot wound and he walked it off.

Spoiler for Inside joke...:
