You mean, we are actually getting episode 3 this Saturday instead of episode 2 replay? This is just too good, no need to wait a whole freaking 2 weeks?

This is very nice, I tried Osu's and Weib's release earlier today, and it was pretty clear neither had someone who played the game translating or QCing.

Yo. What is up with Ion's lisp?

Fon Master Ion, voiced by Ikue Otani, had a lisp in the Japanese version of Tales of the Abyss.

I'm now learning that Ion's new VA for the anime, Yumiko Kobayashi, is also giving him a lisp, albeit much heavier.

Why didn't Ion's English VA have a lisp?

What day does this show air? 2 eps in one week...and another so soon!?!?!

Gundam 00 should be on 3 times a week as well...actually everyday would be good.

Finally Shinsen picks it up, and they released ep.2 pretty quick as well.

All I can say about ep 2 that was win was Tear blushing, that itself made the episode win

Hi Bobu 44,

I watched both Gaku's version and Shinsen's version and I have to express my preference for your translation - great job, it beats Shinsen's hands down when it comes to accuracy.

I was wondering if Gaku would consider releasing .ass files though?

I generally get the raw and like you said, distro problems - although your release comes onstream earlier, Shinsen's downloads much faster. .ass files would also be easier to distribute since they're so small.

But, I have to admit that part of the reason is that the raw you use is really large ;A;

edit: I wasn't sure how to contact him otherwise, sorry if this post is completely off topic.

ASS files would be nice.

But then again, that only sidesteps Bobu's issue. He needs to completely isolate himself from the distro process and let someone else make and upload the MKV.

So is there anyone that's actually subbing this properly? IE not the english translation/names?

Afraid not. AC did a survey in the comm you didn't bothered to join and I think the majority of the votes goes toward using the EN name. Unless another group pops up later on with the JP terms, I think you're stuck with the EN official names.

I don't believe that any one really is. The mindset really is that fans of the game would be paying attention the most to the anime, and thus would prefer terms they are already familiar with. Though, it would be a nice addition to have two tracks for English and Japanese terms, but that would require a little more effort.

Excuse the bad example, but take Pokemon. The Japanese names and English names are completely different. It's easier to simply use the names relevant to the target audience than to force them to adapt again.

Please define "proper". Some of us, if not most, thought that the Abyss localization team did a great job on transitioning/localizing the names (official or not) from JP to EN. And yes I do prefer "Thing" to "Butazaru".

If you want official EN you could start by Shinsen's or Gaku's. Osu! if I'm not mistaken still uses the JP ones (i.e Vaticle instead of Baticul).

This is now officially the oversubbed show of the season. We now have gg, Shinsen, Osu!, Weib, Gaku, Anonymous-Bobu44... and Yuurisan has yet to release theirs.

Haven't played the game, but with so many groups wanting to do this show, gotta pick it up I guess.

Weib and Anonymous-Bobu44 essentially Gaku. The first two groups used Gaku's early unrefined scripts, explaining their quality.

I believe its popularity among the subbers is the fact that it was an excellent game that appealed to many, and for a first with the Tales of adaptions, it's getting a full run instead of an OVA.

Finally watched the first two episodes, I'm following the Shinsen subs.

IMO, I liked what Shinsen subs has done. The usage of English terms/translation feels more familiar to me, since I've played the English version of the game and all. Hope they can keep this up.

If I have a qualm, it's the font size. I'm used to smaller font sizes, which allowed me to drool at the animation. The one they used for the OP was ideal, maybe they may want to use that instead.

Speaking of animation, wow, the quality is good. Though I must say I don't have tons of finished animes in my belt, I'm throughly impressed at the quality. Reminds me of playing through the game.

Now about the story so far:

Spoiler:

Heh, don't forget Abyssal Chronicle, they've yet release theirs too.

So for now on Abyss officially we have:
- Shinsen ;
- Osu! ;
- gg ;
- Gaku ;
- Yuurisan; and
- Abyssal Chronicles.

Lol @ over subbed.

I did join!... Like at the end. But it seemed the majority vote was for the EN terms. Oh well. Stick to the raws and eventual blu-ray.
