His prose is more like a second-rate version of the 19th century Henry James than it is like a 20th century Burroughs. There's a reason he was so much less popular than Wells or Burroughs in his own time. But you make a good point about him trying to describe the indescribable. That's what's great about him.

On the other hand, the long complex sentences might sound normal in Japanese, lol.
Aye... its just that when I hear high school or college students complaining about 19th or early 20th C. literature --- it is generally always the same list of complaints no matter who the author is. It could be Lovecraft, Wells, Burroughs, or even Mark Twain or Joseph Conrad. They just find the general prose standards of the period to be a bit of an obstacle.

... or maybe he will simply loses all his sanity points, it can be argued that falling in love is a form of dementia (usually cured after long years of the therapy called "marriage", but on some rare cases it is an affliction for life).

Wow! So many references!
What I caught:
- Kamen Rider Ichigo (first entrance pose)
- Kamen Rider Den-O ("from start to finish Climax State" and "Ore Sanjou")
- Kamen Rider Kabuto ("Clock-Up to gain speed" for cooking)
- Pokemon
- Kamen Rider Nigo (pose in bathroom)

Is there anything else I miss?

The Haruhi series (original language) has some moments like that... but I'm just interested in looking some of the japanese language versions now and seeing what they're like.
Wells and Jules Verne had particularly more vivid descriptions in their writing than Lovecraft.

When Lovecraft tries to do it in his Dream Cycle stories, they tend to become monotonous and rambling. I appreciate the intention behind it though and my imagination thus makes up for it.

I never read or touched Haruhi despite reading LNs for around 3 years + now so I wouldn't know.

No....I'm not a college student reading Lovecraft as part of a course....I'm just someone who loves eldritch unknowable horror

How fitting considering he voiced Nyarlathotep's male form in Kishin Hishou Demonbane....

I'm curious to see how this role affects Kana Asumi's career... seems like this is going to be one of those roles you would kill to have... and she must be having a lot of fun with it.

Vol 1 is still in the Amazon Top 20 (#16), looks like this is the real deal.. now all it has too do is spike the LN sales...

Just managed to browse through the first episode. Silliest OP I have ever heard! I will never hum it in public places....

Huu! Nyaa! Huu! Nyaa! Huu! Nyaa! Huu! Let's go!

OTOH, I find the reference to Lovecraft's works quite contrasting : Lovecraft usually takes his works and put it through alot of mystery and fear, while this anime just takes it over the top with a twintail dojikko alien wearing zettai ryouiki.

Interestingly, the VAs of a certain set of black and white lolis retain their characteristics against each other. Brilliant.

So are they really monsters taking the form of moe girls? This series could be funny.

One could argue that they're really moe girls who just happen to have monsters as alternate forms.

That would be more fitting for this anime.

I recall a bloodthirsty monster that thrice in one episode indulged in slaughter and mutilation using first her bare hands, then a stone, and finally a crowbar... robbing the MC of precious sanity points, driving him to fend of its bestial procreational advances with a fork

she is an alien and an outer god, and there no way an alien or an outer god can look extractly like human when they were born so i would say that she's a monster take form of a moe girl
