Wink Windy Tales

a new show from Production I.G. and supervised by Mamoru Oshii, the official site can be found here at
http://www.windy-tales.com/

just finished the first episode, the art style is... very unique to say the least... and tends to be quite simplistic... something like a watercolor scribbling kind of animation... while small details like character expressions are quite well-animated. the story is also quite unique, a slow, calm, very relaxed pace, with some light humors and mildly interesting plot. You can say the show itself feels like a light relaxing breeze I guess, nothing extreme, rather just feels nice after watching it. So far so good for the first episode

they are wrong since in the Production I.G. site here
http://www.production-ig.co.jp/anime...les/index.html
it clearly states that "a total of 13 episodes planned".

The character designs on this one look really weird...

edit: The first episode was OK. Check it out for yourself.

Ooh, I quite like this one. It has flying cats! Nicely paced too, but not quite as relaxed as say, YKK. A refreshing change, none the less.

The style somewhat reminds me of that brief scene in FLCL episode two, for those that have seen it. I think someone from Production I.G. may have been responsible for both.

Me being such a fan of the wind, I really found alot to like about this. But, I guess it doesnt take much more than skinny ankles and twirling cats to win me over

Interesting.

The drawing style is a mix of American and Japanese. While the coloring orient towards light contrast.

Not a bad show. It is a experiental style show but it does show its potential to be very unique.

If you get bored of formulated anime and don't induce no-action as boring, this show could be a black sheep.

1. No fighting action
2. No memorable characters (only in eps 1)
3. No etchi
4. Lots of symoblic items.

Just a thought though: Does all middle school girls wear such a short mini-skirt?

the pace in episode 2 actually picks up quite a lot, if episode 1 feels like a gentle breeze, I guess you can say there are quite some strong winds in episode 2

I actually think the characters are portrayed quite well, of course there are quite some character development going on in episode 2. Still very relaxing, but the story is becoming quite engaging too.

I quite liked this, so I'll probably follow it to see where it goes. For some bizarre reason I was absolutely fascinated by Ryoko's lisp.

I really like the OP. Reminds me of Narutaru's ED, because I think it's the same singer.

In 02, the subs twice used "to", when they should have used "too". Come on, that's an easy one.

A most intriguing little story. One problem I have with the drawing style is that the girls are too similar, and frankly their voices aren't all that unique either, so I sometimes have to play it over again to be sure who is who. I hope it improves as I get to know them better.

I love the basic premise for the story though, the wind thing. And the lack of fanservice. (Not that it would have made much impression anyway with that kind of drawing.)

Anyone else think it looks like Zelda: Windwaker?

Happiness, a non-harem anime!

I love the more graphic novelish style of art [like Hundred Stories]. Ahhhhh, so refreshing.

I just wish the fansub group would use a font of a larger size...My poor eyes!

Haven't you been paying attention to their hair? Long-used method of character differentiation. And then there's a boy.

Even the hair is only gray and gray-brown, half-long and half-short. They should have pink and green and blue hair so I hadn't needed to go back and play it over again to find out who was who... (Yes, I am spoiled!) But at least there is a boy, yes.

As for the end of episode 2, I just want to say one thing:
Kids, don't try this at home! ^_^

No problems here. The different skin tones help. If you pay attention to the faces, you'll notice differences in the eyes, mouth and even facial expression. The hair is just the most obvious difference.

It's certainly an effective way of perfecting your skills. Get it wrong and....

I haven't seen the first episode yet, but I love the art style. I hate that every time someone tries something new, it seems like everyone and their grandmother starts condemning them.

You are dealing with the speedsubbers DeathSquad here. What do you expect, quality?

Anyone else get the feeling that this show reeks of Someday's Dreamer? It also has the same pleasant, serene vibe to it. Though I really think the artwork in this show is some of the best I've seen in a while. I'm gonna keep watching it since it's going to have a pretty short run anyways, and even only after the first episode I'm rather intrigued.

But it's such an easy one! English skills!

Anyone else going to sub it?
