Breaking news: Higurashi season three chronicles Madoka's storied rise from college girl pub worker to traffic cop and wife of the intelligence supervisor! (I wish...)

I'm really looking forward to Saikoroshi being animated! (There haven't been any plans for a manga adaptation of that have there?)

Most of all I hope Onisarashi makes it in there, though I don't think it's that likely as it involves new characters and to do it justice (with all the wordiness) would take a good ten episodes.

Utsutsukowashi also doesn't seem that likely as, though Shion and Delicious are involved, the overall plot doesn't relate much to the rest of Higurashi.

Yoigoshi seems the strongest bet for the manga-exclusive arcs, which will definitely be epic.

I know the announcement doesn't sound like it, but I can't be the only one hoping for Umineko here...

Deen could do a very good Higurashi/Umineko crossover episode. It doesn't even need to be a serious one.

Like something with Battler and his Breast Fetish (cue the Rika grabbing Mion's Breasts video)

I'm hoping that some other animation company would do Umineko

Really? After seeing their excellent novel to series adaptations like Seirei no Moribito, I think I.G. Productions would do a potentially good work with Umineko. That, and they have more experience with serious series like Ghost Hound or Ghost in the Shell.... then again I don't really see studio DEEN letting go of the gold mine so this is just wishful thinking

Killer lolis ftw? In all seriousness, there's some entrancing about the show. Its a bit like watching a trainwreck, except you keep getting to see different trains wrecking with roughly the same passengers, into a variety of different objects. Also, the trains are driven by monkeys. On LSD.

Depressingly, that really was the best comparison I could come up with. Having attempted to explain the appeal of this show, and my mildly obsessive attempts at gathering up all the background info, to my friends I realized that there is no normal metaphor for it. I mean, they do not even explain why the hell everything keeps resetting until the second season. So, the first draw of the anime seems to be just the sheer mindbending wierdness of watching the children kill each other. Graphically. While reacting to a being that apparently is not there. With enough random moe to kill a bull at 20 paces.

Slightly back on topic, and not to enrage fellow readers, but it occurs to me that they have not really established Frederica as existing in the anime timeline, so do you thinks there is a chance they might resolve this in a different manner? Since a number of people assumed it was adult Rika and child Miyo meeting at the end of Kai, should we fear a great tangent occuring?

*shifty eyes*

...Who wants to see Mion goes crazy? I know I want to.
Perhaps Watanagashi/Meakashi gone even worse.

"I want that doll, Rena..."
"Mi-chan...?"
"If you can't have it, no one can! AHH!!!" *splat*
"W-water pistols?!"
"Curses... foiled again!"

Personally, I want to see a Saikoroshi-hen just for some Rika violence. Though what I would really like is to see her get stabbity revenge upon Shion/Miyo/et al for all the times through the ringer. Imagining merciless Rika is pleasing, somehow, though at best we'd see that in an OVA.

Who the hell in the Higurashi fandom would NOT like to see an animated Saikoroshi-hen?

Ahh, its been a while since I quoted up to spec. That said, for people that followed the lead up to Kai, do you remember when relevant info began being released for it? Speculation is fun and all, but I am sort of curious as to about how long it takes for them to start giving us things that can be misconstrued as facts. Btw, do you think there's any chance that they will attempt to explain Higurashi before Umineko makes it to TV?
