Great second episode to this very exciting arc. Quite surprised that Tsukuyo having feelings for Gintoki was brought up so early in this arc. I can already see the direction this story is going with the fact that one side wants Tsukuyo to open up, and the other wants her to do away with those feelings, so it's gonna be interesting to see how Gintoki will play out in this arc.

I pretty much jumped out of my seat when spiderman was floating. Glad that was explained shortly after.

I really should have expected Hattori to appear in this arc, with it being ninja themed and all. Great timing, and i just laughed at his typical dialogue. I'd like Sa-chan to appear, though it really isn't her place.

Can't wait for next weeks episode!

Indeed, some great new pieces for this arc. Shame it'll be a long while before the fourth soundtrack is released.

Hattori a.k.a The Jump Ninja as he's known in my circle is one of the greatest side characters in the show ^_^

I get the feeling that if Sa-chan were not almost entirely comic relief she may have played the part Hanzo plays in this arc.

I'd rather have Hattori anyways. He's way cooler in my book.

The master is a freak. He goes through all that extent because he just wants Tsukuyo to be an independent woman and throw her hands up at him. He wants Tsukuyo to protect, BUT not love, Yoshiwara all by herself while he watches merrily on the background whenever she grovels and suffers from the job. He wants Tsukuyo to be cold and lonely and kills whatever is making her happy.

Who would make watching-a-girl-get-beaten-up-in-life-all-alone his sole life purpose?? Who?

XD I would've loved that sick "love" if he was atleast good-looking but without that mask, he's just burnt corpse. But I still enjoy this whole set-up. Between Otae and Tsukky, I prefer Tsukky more. Time for Gintoki to save this new arc's damsel.

Hattori also was almost entirely comic relief until now. The only thing I remember about him is his passion for JUMP and his hemorroids
I had no idea about his love for fugly ladies though.

As for Jiraiya, that guy is really sick, one of the craziest villain we've seen up to know. His obssession about Tsukuyo strongly reminds of Housen and Hinowa, though his methods seem even more twisted. Can't wait until Gin kicks his ass and take back his waifu.

I was really expecting it to end the way it did, and i was not disappointed at all. What i didn't expect was the little focus on Gintoki and his master. It's about time we had more focus on that part of the story, and i'm expecting a bit more in next weeks episode after watching that preview.

So glad Jump Ninja had his time to shine. What an awesome scene, though of course it was Gintoki's last scene there (accompanied with a new acoustic guitar piece which i'm in love with already) which stole the episode, no more like the week. Wow what a scene, wow what a way to end the episode. Can't wait for next weeks.

I wondered how old is Gin and the others . They didn't refered it in the anime .
The amantos came 20 years ago . I assume that Gin was still a kiddo so he's like 27-34 years .

We don't know how old Gintoki was when the Amanto's first arrived.

I guessed he's around 26-28 years, as well as Kondo, Katsura and Shinpachi's sister.

It was revealed in a manga omake that Gintoki is in his early twenties. While the amanto arrived in Japan 20 years ago Gintoki, Katsura etc. only fought in the final years of the war.

Not sure about about the age of Otae, I always assumed she was 18.

Just decided to try out this anime since it's been running for quite a while though.

I like my anime to have good battle and a slice of epic (e.g. One Piece, Naruto), after watching a few episodes though this looks like just a comedy playful anime.

Does the action ramp up in the series at all?

Somewhat. There are only a handful of arcs that are action oriented, which accounts for very little of the actual series. If you want pure action(which it sounds like you do) skip Gintama. Otherwise, it's a great series to follow-- the humor is exceptionally well done and the aforementioned arcs are amazing.
