I don't think it's unusual for him to have a girlfriend, and I totally can see why Aoi, Eris and Manami have feelings for him. I do however find it a little odd he is considered to "a catch" by the other girls in the school. Granted, I don't think I've ever seen that done in a harem show, but Kio doesn't give off the aura of being successful with ladies.

Well, don't forget they are living on Okinawa. It IS a chain of islands with a lower population density than the mainland of Japan. Unless you want to make a big decision to move to the big cities, your choice of partners have to come locally. People aren't after movie-stars, billionaires or beefcakes.
If Kio can't get a girlfriend, then most people wouldn't be able to either. Finding a partner isn't some rare privilege, you know.

And of course by Western standards Kio isn't successful with the ladies. But that's because he is going for the old fashioned Asian courtship method. Making excuses to hang out with someone, to know each other better, and then spend a bloody long time deciding when to ask her out officially. That's how it was traditionally done. Kio isn't going to go clubbing all night and have 30 girl's phone numbers.

Anyway, there is only two things I want to write about concerning ep 7.

1, it is very interesting that the author is hanging a very big lampshade at the tradition of some random cute alien girl showing up and stealing the guy from girls who had knew him for a long time. Aoi's speech is really way overdue, for all the female characters who suffered because they aren't androids, aliens, or some magical goddess. At the very least, the point is made that Eris shouldn't automatically get priority just because she dropped out of the sky and is more exotic than the others. It was quite moving, with Aoi making it clear that she wanted so badly to have Kio but Eris is being a near insurmountable obstacle.

I agree it felt very good to hear this speech in such a series. That's a nice change from all those harem series where all the girls are friendly rivals. I'm sure Eris and Aoi will end up as friends later on, but at least she managed to get this out of her chest. The second half of the speech ("That's no fair! I've liked him way before you came here!) would have been more legitimate coming out of Manami though, amongst the three girls she's the one who has loved Kio the longest.

Yeah me too.... sadly the only thing about the dog woman is her failed plot once again and of course the dog droid communicating with her. There was also a check up on the dog droids to see if they got some data recorded off the enemy?

Episode 7 was, a fun beach episode, liked the "Bewitched" style intro. I'm waiting for "My Favorite Martian" I wonder if they'll use that? Was that show popular in Japan. The two shows seem quite similar actually, especially when compared the movie that came out a few years ago. Tail holes in the bottoms was funny, especially the girl that wore it backwards.
