Shin Hokuto no Ken (new Fist of the North Star)
I'm not asking when episode 2 will be released, but does anyone know of an english fansub group that has finished subbing it or in currently working on it (I have only seen a spanish fansub release of it)? I can't wait till this episode comes out... the first was greatly animated and all of the action in it was greatly detailed and graphic; not to mention that there was a slight cliffhanger (Vista near death??? and Kenshiro's new opponent showing up at the outskirts of Lastland).
Hopefully we get to see some more action this time. I would also like to hear what others though of the series. |

Shin Hokuto no Ken - Awesome or total bull?
Well I watched the first ep of Shin Hokuto no Ken (New fist of the north star). And, knowing that you shouldn't judge an anime by the first ep, I still ask: What is it with this? Were they too stupid to come up with a even halfway decent storyline or what? I was a bit disappointed... ok sure the original isn't a masterpiece of storytelling either but still...
What do you think? |

everybody's entitled to an opinion...
But I agree with the second post on this thread as far as the new Shin Hokuto no Ken to be pretty good actually even if the story is a bit lacking. Don't get me wrong b/c I love anime flicks that can maintain a balance between storyline and action (i.e. NGE, Perfect Blue, etc.) but there are some anime series and movies that are also pretty good to just check out and the one in question is alright IMO.

Well I probably might have expressed myself the wrong way
Not the story itself is bad, but more like how they tell it. I mean it's just like this: Good guys get busted by bad guys, hero comes, kicks everyones ass without getting a scratch, sympathises with good guy and just walks straight into the bad bosses lair and whips his ass. again without getting even scratched... it just feels so empty.. hm.. hard to describe it correctly. It's just that Kenshiro being the "Über-Asskicker" with the Terminator-like attitude gets a bit boring :-) But I liked the way they visualized it. Although the fight scenes could be a bit more dynamic. |

But I am burning it because it is Fist of the North Star and I know quite a few people who will really want to see it for themselves. The first was a classic (in a weird "wow I can't believe their heads are popping!" kind of way that only works once).

Also, the movie isn't very good compared to the TV series and has quite possibly the worst dub ever. The TV series does have a lot of annoying filler episodes, though. The OVA is OK. |
