One day I will try this 'SSATool' of your creation.

I was going to try this, but then I noticed it's compressed with 7z! How do I uncompress a 7z? Should I update my WinRAR?

Yes, update your WinRAR, because we all know that having an old WinRAR version can cause headaches, stomach cramps and death. And not being able to open 7z files.

Well, you see, 7z is to RAR as H.264 is to XviD. It is teh own.

Does SSATool create standard .ssa files? Or does this do some crazy proprietary format?

It should keep the same format it opens with, supporting v4 thru v6.

It compresses more! Comparison between zip and 7z (rar is in between):

mpc2kxp6488v2.7z 1655933 15220 i386 Other
mpc2kxp6488v2.zip 2213931 44090 i386 .zip

the thing is between 'better' compression and global standarization which goes with 7z and zip and h.264 and xvid
