How many of you use Media Servers?

Basically, I have a Media Server cluster.

1. Old Kethinov (kethinov1.kyleofalberta.ca)
Operating System: Debian Linux
Former Purpose: Last desktop that I used on a permanent basis.
RAM: 512MB (max)
Hard Drive: 400GB (2x200GB)
Animes Loaded: Midori No Hibi, Smash Hit, Pokemon (I don't watch, but I am a serious pack rat. Won't delete anything. Use GMail.), Air

2. New Kethinov (kethinov2.kyleofalberta.ca)
Operating System: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Student Edition
Former Purpose: Garage Sale Item
RAM: 768MB (currently saving to exchange 256MB chip to 512)
Hard Drive: 600GB (3x200GB)
Animes Loaded: Ah My Goddess, Naruto, Bleach,

3. Sharron (sharron.kyleofalberta.ca)
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger
Former Purpose: Sitting on shelf at Apple Store
RAM: Don't remember at the moment
Hard Drive: 100GB (haven't had the opportunity to work with this yet)
Animes Loaded: None

Sharron's purpose is to seed everything on my new and old servers. I never delete anything so I still have the old .torrent files.

And that's my home network in a nutshell. What's yours look like?

is your media server directly connected to your tv or are you using a commercial media server (dlink, buffalo, etc.) as middle man ? I have been thinking about it, but don't really want a keyboard/mouse in my living room .....

I do, but only one (at the moment)

Name: Arika
Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Former Purpose: None
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Ram: 2048MB
Hard Drive: 2TB (2 x 200GB, 2x 300GB, 2x 500GB)\
Anime's Loaded:

Akira
Amaenaidayo
Azumanga Daioh
Card Captor Sakura
Da Capo
Elfen Lied
Ghost In The Shell
Ginban Kaleidoscope
Gundam Wing
Gundam Seed
Gundam Seed Destiny
Gravitation
Initial D (stages 1-4)
Love Hina
Mai Hime
Mai Otome
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Ninja Scroll
Rahxephon
Rozen Maiden
Rozen Maiden Traumend
Scryed
Shuffle
Suzuka
Zoids

I am still adding more as I go but thats it for now. Hard drives were purchased as I went and cost approximately $1300. I still need to figure out what I am going to use as a backup for my server though as I don't have any at the moment. Luckily I have most of them on DVD so its not so bad. I plan on owning all anime one day ^^

I am currently in the process of getting Digimon, Pokemon, Dragonball/Z/GT and Sailormoon as they bring back memories of when I was younger, however that is over 1200 anime episodes and will take some time.

I will probably make 1 or 2 of my older computers servers as well and take some of the hard drives out of the main one. I would do this because the more HDD's you put into one system the more is lost if the computer dies. This is what I would LIKE to have set up.

Name: Arika
Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Former Purpose: None
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Ram: 2048MB
Hard Drive: 1TB (2 x 500GB,)

Name: Yuki
Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Former Purpose: Gaming Rig
CPU: Athlon 64 3200+
Ram: 2048MB
Hard Drive: 600GB (2x 300GB,)

Name: Sakura
Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Former Purpose: OLD OLD Gaming Rig
CPU: Athlon XP 2600+
Ram: 1024MB
Hard Drive: 400GB (2 x 200GB)

The stress on my Current single setup is pretty bad and come summer I cannot imagine the tempuratures I will be hitting (currently CPU is at 55C and hard drives at about 48C each) This setup runs 24h/day and serves me and my roomate.
