I've uploaded that kind of pictures to my album on http://www.uzumaki.eu
Don't remember if there're that many, but I do know I've some from different places in Tokyo and Kyoto atm. There're still a lot of pictures I've to upload: Hiroshima, Miyajima, Osaka,...

Time to update with my more recent photos.

A couple of months ago I came home to this beautiful night sky, so I used it as an opportunity to take some long exposure night photos.

And a while ago I went to a historic automobile race.

Spoiler for size:

A while ago I got into 35 mm photography and I was lucky enough to be able to use a dark room, the negs are hand developed and hand printed. Kicking it old school.

Joy...And I was just about to do a search for a photography thread on these forums, but lo and behold, someone bumps it...Incidental laziness? Maybe I should support Socialism...

Pictures out the ass! All these were taken with my Nikon D40, a $500 camera with $300 of it being happily supplied by Uncle Sam via the economic stimulus checks...

Spoiler:

I like this picture...It was just a candid picture of my step-mom's tabby Ariel, and more so, I was just dicking around with my D40, since I hadn't taken any pictures with it yet, mainly because I didn't have anything interesting to take a picture of...Auto-focus, snap; Nothing moreAuto-focus on the D40 is interesting...It focused on Ariel's face, even though it was off-center...That was kinda cool...Goddamn this technology is amazing...

Spoiler:

Another D40 picture of my step-mom's other tabby Serena...Serena had a completely different expression seconds before I snapped this one off...I just had the camera focused on her with the shutter button held half-way, trying to get her attention, waiting so I could take a picture of her looking at me...Well, that didn't happen, because something else in the room got her attention instead...And then this cat expression was seen through the viewfinder, and this was a better photo that I was expecting to take...

"Hwhah?" is the closest thing I can guess is what was running through her mind, as a human...Cats are funny

My dad and I went to this Veterans Memorial park a couple weeks ago, and they had some decommissioned war stuff there on display...They had an M60A3 TTS Patton battle tank, a UH-1H Huey helicopter, Mark 19 torpedo, and a 3in 50cal naval deck gun...

Spoiler:

I love me some Smith & Wesson knives

Serena probably wants outside

Backseat shot of a great sunset one night about 2 weeks ago

Spoiler:

Messing around with the exposure settings on my D40 from just a couple minutes ago; At first I thought the pictures were blurry because of the stars, but no, that's just how fast things in the sky move in just 30 seconds

Spoiler for here u go:

here is my puppy, I have a new lens 100mm F/2.8 but I think its the wrong one since its so hard to use. I think there is a 60mm which is better for close ups maybe

That's a wonderful picture! Really nice.
100mm can be quite useful at times because of relatively large bokeh. But in crop body the uses are indeed quite limited. I myself am a big fan of 50mm primes both in crop and full frame bodies.

I haven't had the chance to take many shots recently, but I'll share a few here. Images are in 1024x768, hidden behind spoilers. EXIF data has apparently been ripped by the host; sorry...

The following two were taken with the Olympus Zuiko Digital 70-300mm with the EX-25 extension tube mounted. The water lilies were in the middle of a small pool of water, meaning that I coildn't get close with my 50mm macro lens alone; the 70-300mm + EX-25 gave me the reach I needed and allowed me to go to ~0.6x magnification.

Water lily (female):

Water lily (male):

Macro shot of a large blade of silvery grass, taken with Zuiko Digital 50mm macro:
Spoiler:

And then for something interesting. People usually take shots of fountains at a slow shutter speed, so as to capture the motion of the fountain. I turned up the ISO and aperture, waited for the clouds to pass, and then took a shot of a fountain at 1/4000 shutter speed (the fastest that the E-520 will allow). Result:
Spoiler:

Not bad, but 1/4000 still wasn't fast enough to freeze everything. (1/8000 maximum speed of the Olympus E-3 would have been fun to try.) How can that technique be applied? See the next picture. Taken with the ZD 50mm macro:

Spoiler:

This is a shot of a fountain depicting three young women dancing in a circle, hands linked. In the center is a rising jetstream of water. Depending on the direction of the wind, a different figure would be sprinkled. For statues they seem rather lively, but use of a slow shutterspeed to capture the movement of the water would only serve to make the figures look dead and unmoving. Freezing the water makes the statues feel even more alive.

All images uncropped and unprocessed.

Sweet, a photography thread! I'm picking up a Canon rebel Xsi tonight so I'm pretty stoked to tinker with it and take some shots.
