Indeed, since she died so recently, it would've made her a master vampire. So she was either killed by Fuhai Touhou in battle, or the Mius when they discovered her true objective. Now that I think of it, that would make perfect sense, it would explain why those Miu members were after Akuha in the flashback. I'd be interested in knowing how she got back with the Mius after what happened? Or perhaps she didn't, she was there on behalf of Fairy Tale, acting as a mediator between the Mius and the Shuzens. Diabolical, I truly love the mangaka's writing. Can't wait for the next chapter.

It's prolly like O Ren Ishii's story in Kill Bill. Boss Matsumoto killed her parents, and then she killed him years later only to take top spot in the Yakuza. Same thing happened to Akua, only in China and demons are involved, tho I don't know if Akua's taken leadership of the Ayashi Triads, but I would bet she's well on the way given the extent of her powers and influence, as well as her ties with the Shuzen.

Well I don't think we should say too much definitively about her mother. Aside from being a descendant of Alucard, haven't we learned literally nothing else about her?

Her unquestionable, undying yandere/yangire fangirl'ing of Moka?

That and the fact she learned the Jigen-tou. I have to wonder who taught it to her considering it wasn't Fuhai-sensei. She couldn't have come up with it on her own either because she said it was Fuhai-sensei's technique and not hers. I wonder if it's the case that Gyokuro also knows the Jigen-tou and taught it to Akua just before coming to the Shuzen house.

I can see that happening, especially considering her megalomania and her lust for power. All steps on the path to world domination, if she's still pursuing it.

Only that she died eight years before the current time, according to Akuha that is. And since she was an elder vampire, I doubt it was from natural causes. That's why I said she was probably killed by Fuhai (one of the few people who could've taken down an elder vampire one on one), or by the Mius when they learned the truth about her. They may be ruthless ayashi gangsters, but it seemed genocide was where they drew the line.

Okay, maybe a bit more than eight years, as shown here. http://www.mangafox.com/manga/rosari...07/c030/3.html

But since her mother was Alucard's daughter, that would've made her around two hundred years old or so, which would qualify her as an elder vampire. That would also make it exceedingly difficult to have actually killed her, yet she's apparently no more, if we're to believe everything Akuha said. I'd always figured she embellished her background in order to get close to Akasha so she could achieve her goal.

Yeah but you're saying "elder vampire" like it's an official term in the series, implicating they are super vampires with greater strength. But what in RV said something like that? The only vampires with greater strength I remember are Shinso.

Here's another possibility for Issa, if he isn't hiding, or dead, or just missing or exiled, he could be locked up in a dungeon somewhere, or even on that floating island. It's possible that after Akasha sacrificed herself, he fell into a depression, which made it easy for Gyokuro to take over, and she imprisoned him so as to milk him for information every so often.

That kind of sounds like another plausible series of events if we find Issa isn't around or able to act if such things are going on.

It's part of vampire mythology, that they grow stronger over time. If they didn't, it would bee too easy for, say, a fledgling to overthrow its sire. They're not all equal in terms of strength, that's why Issa was the head of the family, he was the strongest and oldest of the Shuzen family. In the anime, Issa's power was said to surpass the S-class. And just by the way he was dressed, it was obvious he was an elder vampire, who'd lived for hundreds of years, if not more.

And while Moka might be a Shinso, she's also just seventeen years old. She's nowhere near as powerful as her mother, whose had centuries to master and perfect her power. It's not done overnight, not even close. That's why I doubt Moka and Tsukune will be able to defeat Gyokuro, because I'm certain she's also an elder vampire. I'd be quite disappointed if she was defeated with punitive ease.

I think it's been made clear by now you can't so easily apply real vampire mythology to RV. These vamps aren't even undead, they don't sleep in coffins, etc. Ikeda's using the lore as he wishes. And unless elder vampires actually get mentioned, it's faulty to say they are automatically in the series.

First and foremost, anime "Daddy Starbucks" (our nickname around here for Issa, when we didn't know who the father of the girls was) =/= manga Daddy Starbucks, i.e. Issa (I don't even know if the anime ever gave him a name). I won't go into a lot of details, but because of several various factors, including the fact that Issa hadn't been introduced at the time of the anime, the anime is about as far from the manga as you can get. The most we know about Issa's power right now is that he was definitely a high-ranking member of vampire aristocracy... and I'm pretty sure the fact that Alucard was sealed under his mansion says something too. Beyond that, we don't know anything else about where exactly Issa stood (or perhaps still stands) amongst the "noble" vampires.

While age would have something to do with it, I don't think age alone represents how powerful a vampire is in R+V. We know implicitly that at a certain point, a Vampire's aging process halts and they will continue to live for a long time, tho not neccessarily forever. This gives them the chance to grow stronger over time, but they don't automatically grow stronger as they do in traditional mythology, they'd have to work for it. Since they're not bound by aging, they can only get stronger, but they have to train in order to become so because they're not undead. Age (or lack thereof) does help, but not to the extent of automatic power growth.

That said, Issa, being the (former?) head of the Shuzen, and Gyokuro, being the leader of Fairy Tale and quite likely the new head judging by what Kahlua said about the Shuzen giving FT their full support and the fact Gyokuro is its commander in chief, are most likely very old Vampires themselves, so they've had plenty of lifetimes to grow, train and fight to become stronger. Tho they don't have Shinso blood, they are likely to be very powerful, more so than Moka and Tsukune, for certain, considering Kahlua gave Moka a run for her money despite not having Shinso blood. Because they are old, they are powerful, but I doubt that's all there is to it and I do believe they've had a much larger share of battles than Tsukune & co.

Karua is a bad example... she's been trained for years solely as an assassin, which is why Moka had such a tough time with her. I'm pretty sure all the sisters are younger than 25 (though who knows how old Akua is...)

Unfortunately, we only know three real ages: Kokoa, Moka, and Akasha (okay, so hers is more a relative age). Karua and Akua we can get a rough idea of, whereas Gyokuro and Issa... well, who knows?

BTW, Alucard isn't being included in this count because he's the oldest Shinso, and is at least 600 years old (considering that the original legends of the vampires, namely Dracula, are somewhere between the 1200's and 1400's, IIRC)

That's a fair point. Although Moka's been trained in martial arts since an early age, she's been sealed for a whole 6 years or so, whereas Kahlua's had plenty more time than that to fight and become stronger. But that actually also proves a point that a longer time to train would give even a normal Vampire the power to fight a very young Shinso carrier. What I'm saying is that if Kahlua was able to go head to head with Moka, Gyokuro and Issa are undoubtedly far above Moka.

As for Alucard, you could be right about his age, tho frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if he existed since long before then (perhaps even since the iron age).
