Yeah I know Canyoumoe is blogging it but he/she seems to be the only person I can find who's continuously blogging this series. It's too bad that The Third is one of those shows that doesn't get all the attention like Fate/Stay Night, Nana, or xxxHolic is getting

After watching ep2,I'm just wondering this will turn into the mecha series. Shouldn't Honoka be the unique sword-dancer instead of a typical mecha-driver ?If Honoka has a chance to meet up with another talented human/subhuman like Ikus who could drive that PSP,that will be more awesome. Another one thing, Honoka's tank seems to be alittle bit bigger than the first episode.

I don't know about Honoka is a "failed Third" or not but for Ikus there are some similarities .see the pics

Finally a SF anime for my tastes... I love SF but never like the background (the story behind the world) but this one is really good...

The story seems to be well balanced... Hono-chan rocks... little mech here and there...

So far only series kick start episodes *watched up to ep2*... lets hope the rhythm continues

Well, I'll postpone judgment on the actual ep, because I feel this is one of those grate series... and probably will have a forum when it starts to get some of the appreciation it deserves... *fingers crossed*

Overall Series Judgment...

Things I like...

• The little fights in both episodes... if they keep using at least one fight seen per episode then I'll be happy ^^ *prays the style of the show will continue*
• Hono-chans fighting style...
• The overall design of the characters... well except Ikus (sp?) :/ ... love Hono-chans character design (both as graphic design and as character personality... she's so cool )
• The design of the mecha... no oversize robots... super high tech ...
• The tank design... not too fancy not to old... can’t wait to see the 2 main guns or grenade launchers in action
• The character design of the Third (I'm guessing that's what they're called)
• ... the anime has computer generated graphics ... since I got fooled they must be top notch ... the blending between anime and the computer graphics is very good...
• The design of the world is excellent... big desert... with giant bugs (so far my favorite are the ants )
• Hono-chans little faces are so adorable ...IMO the fact she’s animated in this cartoon style for the most part of the show when she's not fighting was stroke of genius

Things I don't like...

The only thing I don't like is that stupid narrator... it just doesn't work well for the show... well its not something serious... and if that's how they intend to fill the gaps here and there I guess its better then resorting to music... he seems to help a little on the character development... but overall I say he’s just wasting our time... most of the crap is too evident to need to be narrated...

Series balance...

24% - Cuteness
40% - Action, Mecha
30% - Story
6% - Fanservice

Temporary rating - Excellent

//note - there seems to be some other SF series out there (Simoun, WichBlade)... and this anime just buried them... did I miss one ...

I'm not sure about Ikus; he could be a Third or not. I don't entirely trust him either...hmm.

As for Honoka, the clues are already there in ep 1...

...at 07.34 (in the Ayu sub) we see a blue Third eye flash just before Honoka realises she has been trapped by the mother spider. I guess this is her dormant Third sense that she tries to supress?

Plus she ain't wearing that bandana for nothing

I haven't read the manga (although I will eventually), but I'm thinking Honoka might be the child of a human and a Third; hence why her appearance is more human that the angular lines of the Third's.

I'm thinking in the same way Sohex because she was adopted when she was young.The sword dancing was taught by her adopted father and so is the sword was given.She may already have the promising power to battle before she learnt sword dancing from her father.Ikus on the other hand,I think there must be some relation between Ikus and Honoka because Honoka is in wired mode everytime she looks into his eyes.

Looking at one of the covers in the first post... her eye looks red for some reason ... but I guess thats a big spoiler... so I don't really want to know at this point

I believe the Blue Breakers are in fact a secret police type of robots or some such working for the government. In episode 2 we hear from the mechanics guy (forgot his name ) that he's afriad they'll catch him someday because of his involvment in handling retricted technology. So no, he wasn't refering to Honoka as the Blue Breaker. In fact I believe in episode 3 we actually get to see the Blue Breakers when they come after Ikus

Which ones? The white droid types policing Emporium? If so, they're not Blue Breakers. We haven't seen the Blue Breakers yet, except in the preview for ep.4 which I guess shows them attacking the serviced PSP Honoka's piloting. They're blue, oddly enough.

Ah okay. Well, my assumption is based on the preview for Ep4 and Jouganki's comments in Ep2; he said the 4 foot soldiers he tuned up for the fight with Honoka, were still not as strong as the Blue Breakers. So if the Blue Breakers were just those numerous white soldiers they're hardly formidable and warranting the kind of reputation Milly's dad afforded them. Even Honoka reiterated the fact that fear of the Blue Breakers is warranted.

I think your assumption is correct ... they clearly mention Blue Breakers... even I understood ... we even get to see Hono-chans eye ... and that big robot thing... can't wait ...

Wait a sec... how the heck is Honoka suppose to hide the thing ... I mean she can't just go and show it off at the other bounty hunters ... and the tank looks too small to carry it inside ...
