It's because your session is already expired... read my post here.

Session : something that the server use to indentify that your PC is you... It can be expired in any time the script programmer want, or of you logging out...

I believe if you check the Remember me? box, it will keep you logged in as long as you don't manually log out or delete your cookies. I closed my browser and turned off my computer this afternoon and when I came back recently I was still logged in.

Any site that has membership or logins will log you off automatically if you have inactivity. I've only found a couple that doesn't.

It is more of a security issue than anything. It prevents you from logging in one machine and leaving it logged on for an indefinite amount of time. This time would allow someone else to use your account for malicious purposes. Auto-logoff protects the Service as well as the user.

Actually, out of all the services I use, most either never log you out unless you do it yourself, or they log out when you close your browser.

I find Anime Suki's 10 minute autologoff thing to be really annoying.

It only annoys me when I am replying to a thread where it takes me longer than 10 min to type out and revise, then when I click the preview button it says I am logged off and I have to hit the back button to copy and paste my words before I lose the data . . .then I got to sign in again and reply to the thread . . . . . it's happened to me at least 3 times before

Well, for me...I tend to open up a ton of tabs in Firefox...so I'll frequently have AS open, typing out a reply to something, and then I'll browse over to another tab for the heck of it...and when I come back I'll have to relogin....though firefox keeps everything you typed in if you just hit the back button, which is really nice.

AS never logs me out. It might be because I checked the "remember me" button at login, or because I have my username/password stored in Firefox, or perhaps the combination of the two. But I can return to my computer the next day and my AS session is still running as I left it the night before.

Yes, if you don't check the Remember Me box AS will log you out after 10min of inactivity.
There's nothing wrong with this behaviour and 10min is the ideal timeframe. Just write faster!

Like I said- I tend to get some ADD on the net and I go off to different tabs while posting....so yeah, it's not that I take long, it's just that I tend to get away from what I'm doing.

"or because I have my username/password stored in Firefox"
That's not it, since I also have my username stored in Firefox. Though I'll have to try the remember me thing. Thanks for that.
