I have been avoiding this thread lately because i didnt want to be spoiled. Im going through my 2nd viewing of ep 24 will post my thoughts once im satisfied im gotten everything.

There, Cal begins the talk the same way - Cal half mocks, half commends Mio about taking the abduction in stride, since she expected her to break down and cry. And here, Cal is shrieking up and recoiling. Pictures of herself being violently abused by her own father fill her mind, because Mio looks exactly the same way now like _Cal_ did in the past. She realizes that she has become the same which she so feared and hated in the past. So, Cal immediately stops her abuse, apologizes to Mio and retreats to a window to think things over.

Later in the night, Mio wakes up and sees Cal crying quiet tears. Here, her inner Monologue begins whose absense in the anime I really regret (since it's part of every path): She feels strong empathy to Cal, who has lost herself in her hatred, but who clearly not always was that way. Particularly the fact that Cal looks so lonely and isolated touches her, and Mio wonders if there isn't anything she could do to change that. Essentially, Mio thinks that not everything is lost for her. Someone has to free her from the ugly past and make her whole again, but no matter what she does, Mio can't do it. In the morning then, Cal apologizes to Mio once more and gives her the "It's no use hating me, just forget I ever existed" talk, and the anime continues from there.

Essentially, I consider this scene the key to the entire show. Mio succeeds in getting Cal to think about the past. She manages to plant at least the seeds of doubt in her whether her "Reiji was a cruel careless bastard" conviction was really true, or whether he WAS happy to see her again. She also realized that she has turned into the same kind of monster which had abused her in the past, and that she feared and hated. However, Cal sees no way out and only wants to end it all.

Mio, on the other hand, realizes that Cal isn't completely broken, and that there's hope pulling her back from the brink. This is also why she's reacting so strongly to Elen's intention to duel and kill her. She wants to _prevent_ this confrontation, not merely because she's scared about Reiji/Elen, but also since she thinks that there should be a way to resolve this WITHOUT killing each other.

After the subs of the next episode, I'll explain why I believe they removed these aspects. Though smart viewers will probably be able to deduce them themselves.

Given this, I don't like where this is going.

It's pretty easy to connect the dots, but maybe that's what the producers expect. Hopefully that's the case and what is being alluded to isn't what's gonna happen.

Excellent drama and suspense build up. The music was great, barring the er... rather odd track that has been plaguing this arc. I especially like that new dramatic track that was playing at the end of last episode and during SM's scene during this one.

On a side note, SM really needs to die. I've never really understood the "oiling his weapons" train of though since he never touched Reiji and Cal would likely have chopped off an organ or two if he tried.

Probably he wouldn't touch Reiji because he wasn't gay. And because he was only "half-ready". He's still had his will in contrast with Ein's complete submission.

Maybe he also washes them in the bath...

Meh, that's not too bad. I think many of us would be in a lot more agony if the break was happening this week. For now, I'll treat it as a good sign that the studio is gearing up to make the last episode for the series a spectacular end.

Well , Ein vs Cal next but seems that they'll be some hindrances . AND don't like Reiji's face with the phone , seems that someone (Ein or Cal) is in danger .

Yeah, I know, but that still doesn't explain why he doesn't "polish" Reiji. I think the point I'm trying to make is that there's some level of sexuality there, regardless of why SM thinks he's doing it.

Well, Zwei wasn't broken in yet, so he definitely would've fought back. Plus, Claudia dug her talons into him before Scythe could, which Scythe even acknowledges.

No, but as long as it wasn't actually shown there's room to argue about the specific details. Violent abuse and sexual molestation, which does cause such lasting scars in real life, isn't limited to rape and only rape. The point is that she did something horrible to her, either way, in order to leave her in that state, but the show didn't depict it.

I expected that much, but it's just an academic issue that changes very little, in any case, so never mind.

At this point I'm just waiting for 25 to air, more than anything else.

They left that too up to interpretation. If I wasn't spoiled about the VN I never would have discerned Mio being raped. First, its girl on girl, second only her clothes were torn off. She'd be a little dirty (from the dirty floor) and would be a little bruised from resisting Cal as well.

There's nothing to worry about. That announcement was for the broadcast time change for the channel TV Aichi. The earliest broadcast is TV Tokyo, so everything's still on schedule.

Another good episode, most of the episode was about setting up the stage for the finale, which I think did a good job about it. I knew that Cal still cared for Reiji, you could just tell after she broke down crying that she just wanted to be with him this whole time.

I can't wait for the last two episodes I have my predictions of what is going to happen but I hope I'm wrong. I know that I better have a box of napkins next to me because they are most likely going to be very tragic episodes.

BTW Scythe Master is time for you to kick the bucket seriously!!!

No, I was spoiled prior to your posting. If you go back a few pages you'll find it. After last week's episode a lot VN discussion followed, with no spoiler tags, and I was thus spoiled.

As expected, the (irresponsibly stupid) blog entry came true. Reiji kills Cal in a duel in the church. The Godoh Group goes for revenge for Mio's abduction and gets terribly mauled by Elen/Reiji. SM appears on stage and sics the Zahlenschwestern after them. On to the final act. I hope they managed to properly finish the Cal development at least (I pray that after the cutting from ep24, they will at least leave her her parting line), but it will take a few hours till I can see for myself.
