I like Crossbone for different reason. Also as you stated, if it's there for no reason, they could just have 'fixed" it without worrying about drastic change that affects the story.

The explanation was that the monkeys were genetically altered to pilot mobile suits (since apparently Garma Zabi saw that monkeys could play Pacman, so why not mobile suits?), and they are much more expendable than humans.

Plus monkeys can become Newtypes since they share 95% of genes with humans...

Anyway, it was a comic relief chapter... No different from Cucuruz Doan mobile suit martial arts or space Aztec ninjas or bikini bazooka babes.

I don't know if it's the best, but it is the most popular.

I like it the best, but that's because I grew up with it as the only Gundam verse during my teenage years.

Anyhoo, about this new project.

The reason I mentioned Crossbone Gundam is because it is in the UC universe and it takes place a little bit after Unicorn does.
If memory serves, Crossbone Gundam takes place sometime in the UC 130s.
Unicorn is in the UC 0096 right?

I'm just wondering if Sunrise plans on linking the two.
I imagine an anime adaptation of Crossbone Gundam would edit out all the silly parts (like the monkeys).
Crossbone Gundam (the manga) reminds me a lot of Space Pirate Captain Harlock (it's style, and the Space Pirates).
I think it would make a great edition to the animated Gundam series for the UC universe.

But hey, only time will tell what they've got in store for us.

I watched Corin Nadar (Turn A) beat a mobile suit with ejecting rocket arms like DBZ's Android 16! I've seen Newtype Dolphins (Gundam X) kick more a$$ than JAWS...Monkeys in Mobile Suits ain't that far a stretch if done right...I just finished watching Dining-Room Table silverware beat the $hit outta the GundamOO verse, bring on the chimps!

i hope its another OVA with same visual quality as gundam unicorn, a remake or retelling of the UC universe will be better than a 50 episode series, and i dropped watching the new translation movies of UC whatever it is called i did not like that only parts of the movie are newly animated

While Unicorn's visual quality is superb, I'd rather have something new than a retelling of the older material. It'd be nice, but they haven't given the impression that it's a priority for them at all. And given that Unicorn's still ongoing, I'd rather have a regular TV anime series than another OVA series that we have to wait a long time between instalments for- there's already Unicorn for that. Although there are hits and misses, and lord knows there's absolutely no way everyone will be pleased with whatever they put out, I like that they continually try to put new spins on Gundam and come up with original ideas to do with it. So, I guess that means I'm vaguely inclined towards another AU, but I'm willing to be surprised.

Do note, however, that no matter what I say in discussion or whatever opinions I voice normally, as soon as I'm actually sat down watching it I'll switch gears to 'dur hur giant robots' mode and will likely enjoy watching it whatever it is.
