While some parts of the cut material would have been nice to see, I don't think it would've aided the cause of the story too much. The main point of this is just that Riki realizes he was too weak to take care of Rin on his own, and that both of them were basically too childish to handle the situation. Essentially this is covered by what was shown. I think it's a much better idea that they did CHEAP TRICKS properly and gave extended time to Refrain under the time constraints.
Kyousuke's full intentions are spoiler area, and no the cut material doesn't explain his point of view here. I think it's already been made apparent enough that Rin is too weak.

He IS right. That's what makes it so annoying. I would want to belt him one in the face, but at the same time, Rin really CAN'T function on her own. They way he's doing it though, is questionable at best. It might come back to bite him in the ass. And he's clearly hurting too. Look at his hand when he grabs Riki, right before telling him he's bring Rin back for the weekend.
