New DBZ Music!
A friend of mine, Scott Morgan, who was a guitarist, music editor, and arranger of the American soundtrack of Dragonball Z just released his new album with music based on the show. Check it out: http://cdbaby.com/cd/morganstudios2 This album is dedicated to Scott's former colleague and unsung hero Mike Smith whose music is an inspirational source for much of the music inside. A very special thanks goes to the fans as well! Last edited by Arcwave; 2008-08-24 at 21:43. Reason: spelling errors |

BB King - One Kind Favor
It is so good. One Day As A Lion - One Day As A Lion EP Very good. Some awesome musicians joining forces to make some sick Funk metal. That new album that Brian Eno and David Byrne is another album that people are raving about, but I didn't like it very much. It sort of bored me. Sorry. |

Nothing really outstanding yet, a lot of great singles though, so far the albums I like are Suara's Taiyou to Tsuki, Misato Aki's here I am, and Yukarin's Izayoi no Tsuki Canaria no Koi. And I have high expectation for Minorin's Parade (out end of November).
JAM Project's Get Over the Border and Kuribayashi Minami's dream link came close, but I enjoy them more like a single compilation than an album. If you count anime soundtracks, I'd say kure-nai and (of course) Macross F pwns 2008. ... am I the only one posting anime-related albums here? T_T |

Nope, but if you ask me, I'd take Romeo x Juliet's soundtrack over the two that you listed. I think Hitoshi Sakimoto's work on that one is absolutely stunning, both in the way he manages to capture the essence and mood of the setting as well as compose appropriate music for the action scenes which are filled to the brim with energy as well as instilling within it a sense of majesty.
Kure-nai's soundtrack, on the whole, was a good effort, but I felt that it got bogged down a bit too much with repetitive melodies and that the first CD was pretty bland. Thankfully, the second CD manages to make it a whole lot better. Macross Frontier, was also pretty decent, but only if you restricted yourself to the instrumental tracks. Any deviation from that and you end up running into May'n's music, which I think are absolutely atrocious. Megumi Nakajima delivers a better performance by far since she actually puts emotions into her music unlike May'n, whose voice tends to be bland as though no effort were expended when she sings.

I think it was a great year, but with download distribution selling so heavily this year, i'm quite disappointed, because i noticed that some highstreet shop are stocking much less CDs/vinyls of non mainstream artists, artist not backed by big record lables.
Have to revise my decision Spoiler:
