Amaterasu invites Old man Hyuga to ride with it.
Back at the shrine, Kyouhei fires the gun toward the ceiling to create a distraction and escape with Hibino.
The Kuga asks Kyouhei's mother to step aside (use her as a hostage?)
Hibino manages to evade in the woods, but Kyouhei stays behind to cover her and is captured.
Koushiro hears the gunshot and gets up, resolving to save Kirio.
At the workshop, Moyako is visited by Aki with a request.
Shion keeps watch on Amaterasu but is discovered and attacked.
Kyouhei is thrown into a jail cell. His demands to see his uncle and grandfather are denied.
Finding writing scratched on the wall, Kyouhei realizes it is where Aki was imprisoned.
Kuuko beats up Shimoyama for letting Mahiru slip away on pretext of a washroom break.
They notice burnt buildings in the village and much tighter security.
Shimoyama worries about his grandmother.
Continuing along, they discover Hibino lying unconscious.
Mahiru has reached the shrine, but regrets not going home first for a change of clothes.
She is startled when Koushiro opens the door to leave and spots her.
Spoiler for Chapter 56:
Koushiro sets off to save Kirio despite his wounds.
He encounters Mahiru sneaking back in the village and suggests she help out by taking control of Kirio's now Seki-less Takemizaguchi.
Mahiru angrily declares she's faithful enough not to switch kakashi's so soon.
Koushiro leaves alone.
However, Mahiru seems impressed when she learns that Koushiro will be a father soon and he is risking his life for a promise with Kirio.
Meanwhile, Kuuko's father is heading towards the village with his partner...
Hibino, Kuuko and Shimoyama decide to head to Kyouhei's home which is close to their current location.
Kyouhei is in his jail cell, using the light of his cellphone to read Aki's scratches on the wall -- "idiot" "Kyouhei" "kill"
Aki is at Moyako's home while Moyako serves him tea...
while dressing her best in her recent acquisitions from her Tokyo shopping spree.
Aki requests she remove the seal on Kuramitsuha to return it to its full form, but Moyako refuses, worrying that Aki will become a mass murderer again.
Shion, Souya and Akatsumi engage the newly revived Amaterasu.
The plan is to have Shion drag Amaterasu using Kamotaketsuno to limit its movements while Mikumari and Kagutsuchi attack from the side.
Just as Shion is in danger, Utao arrives with Kukuri and blocks Amaterasu's attack.
"Kirio! Big sister is coming to save you!" declares Utao.
Spoiler for Chapter 57:
Utao rushes in to attack Amaterasu at close quarters using Kukuri's knife, but is driven back.
Shion yells at Utao for approaching without figuring out the enemy's abilities.
They decide to first disarm Amaterasu through long range bombardment (via Souya's Mikumari and Akatsumi's Kagutsuchi).
Souya orders Shion to leave since her kakashi is damaged and has no offensive abilities (plus the fact that he has secret orders to destroy everything, Kirio included).
Moyako asks if Aki would still go after the village if she unseals Kuramitsuha.
Aki says it doesn't matter, he would still do it even if she doesn't help him.
Moyako comments that after all, only Kyouhei can be friends with Aki, and asks how they first met.
Flashback to years ago on the day that Atsushi was going to perform the ceremony to inherit Kuramitsuha.
Atsushi is unhappy that Aki is attending, but his parents insist that the rules dictate all Kuga children to be there.
Atsushi orders Aki to get lost during the ceremony but then changes his mind.
He decides that having Aki there would be good for reminding Aki their difference in status.
Kyouhei interrupts by crashing Kukuri, apologizing that he is still new at controlling.
Atsushi leaves in anger, but Aki sees through Kyouhei and says he doesn't need his pity or his help.
Aki has no interest in attending the ceremony, but Kyouhei persuades him to go, saying that Kuramitsuha might not respond to Atsushi and choose Aki instead.
Back to the present, Kyouhei discovers a removable section in the bars of his jail cell.
Apparently no one bothered to check after Aki escaped.
(Presumably this is how Hirashiro arranged for Aki's release.)
Moyako is surprised to receive a call from Kyouhei's house.
Hibino, Kuuko and Shimoyama are at Kyouhei's home, assisted by Kyouhei's father.
They call Moyako to alert her of the Kuga's plans and Souya's orders to eliminate all evidence.
Hibino decides to go free Kyouhei at the shrine; Kuuko is excited by the chance to create more chaos.
"Wait," says Kyouhei's father.
Mahiru visits Moyako to take control of Takemikazuchi and join in the battle.
She is shocked by Moyako's fashionable attire.
Koushiro appears at the battle with Amaterasu.
Spoiler for Chapter 58:
At the scene of the confrontation, Utao asks everyone else not to attack Amaterasu's core because Kirio is inside.
Akatsumi comments that he has never seen Kirio who was rumored to be old man Hyuga's illegitimate child. Apparently even within the Hyuga, Kirio was a closely guarded secret.
Meanwhile, Kirio inside Amaterasu is confused by the presence of Koushiro and Utao.
In his paranoid state, he is easily convinced by old man Hyuga that everyone is out to kill him.
Old man Hyuga tells Kirio he can and should kill everyone.
Back to Mahiru who is at Moyako's place performing the ceremony to take control of Takemikazuchi.
Mahiru asks to borrow a room to change. Moyako blushes as she thinks of Aki but she realizes he has already gone.
Kyouhei's father drives Kuuko and Hibino to the shrine to rescue Kyouhei. Poor Shimoyama has to ride in the trunk.
Kyouhei has already freed himself from Aki's former jail cell. He worries about Hibino and wonders if he should negotiate with his elders again.
Kuuko and Shimoyama cuts power to the shrine for a distraction while Hibino enters to look for Kyouhei.
Hibino is discovered by a guard who doesn't recognize her and mistakens her for the cooking group.
Hibino enters a room and finds Kyouhei's mom, who was summoned to the shrine (presumably as a hostage).
Hibino urges her to escape but they are stopped by the guard.
Kyouhei appears and knocks out the guard, but they are now confronted by the group of shrine elders.
Suddenly some unknown object smashes into the shrine.
The battle continues with Amaterasu.
Just as Amaterasu is about to fire its mouth beam at Koushiro, a lightning attack stops Amaterasu.
Mahiru makes a grand entrance on Takemikazuchi with a brand new gothic lolita outfit and a katana on her back.
"Kirio, you naughty boy, let big sis Mahiru teach you a good lesson!"
Spoiler for Chapter 59:
Mahiru announces she renamed her kakashi to "Takemikazuchi Deathscythe."
Though Moyako's warned that Kuga Souya has orders to destroy all evidence of Amaterasu and Kirio, Mahiru decides to leave him for now in case his firepower is needed.
Mahiru provokes Kirio to make an all-out attack with all of Amaterasu's weapons, but deflects everything with some sort of energy shield.
Declaring Kirio naive, Mahiru says that he is no match for her, who has experienced hell on earth.
Mahiru unleashes a massive lightning attack which blasts through Amaterasu.
As her attack continues, Mahiru laughs and tells Kirio to kneel at her feet and beg for mercy.
However, the attack is interrupted when Utao yells at Mahiru, fearing Kirio would be killed.
Mahiru argues that they need to crush Kirio's spirit so that he gives up resisting.
Inside Amaterasu, old man Hyuga asks Kirio if he will always lose to Mahiru.
Amaterasu enters another cocoon stage.
While everyone wonders how many lives Amaterasu has, Utao points out that it should be nearing its limits, so they continue to focus their attacks.
Back at the shrine, it turns out Shion had lost control and crash landed her damaged kakashi.
Shion reports that Amaterasu has grown larger and gained flight capability.
She worries that even using all the kakashi might not be enough (clearly she hasn't seen Mahiru in action).
Kyouhei notices some kind of spiritual energy which reminds him of the first time when he met Kukuri, and he reaches his hand to it.
Kuuko notices something going on in her bag (probably that kakashi component she picked up from the ruins.)
Kyouhei tries to explain that Amaterasu is powered using Kirio, so it will just be an empty doll once they extract Kirio.
Kyouhei's uncle is skeptical and doubts that they can even get near Amaterasu.
Kyouhei says he believes in Utao, and if that doesn't work, he'll rescue Kirio himself.
Kyouhei makes a final request to his grandfather, to recall Souya's orders and help rescue Kirio, and fix the village's twisted ways.
Kyouhei insists they need to do penance for all the victims the shrine has sacrificed.
Kyouhei's grandfather replies, saying that even if the village is as twisted as he claims, it is the same situation everywhere else in the world.
People cannot choose where they are born, but can only live as best as they can.
Kyouhei says he understands, then tells Hibino he finally has an answer for her: he will use the kakashi's power under his own will to save Kirio.
Apologizing to Shion, Kyouhei reaches out his hand and takes control of her kakashi, instantly unlocking its special attack mode.
While Shion is surprised that Kyouhei is able to unlock the special mode that Moyako said would take days of adjustments, everyone else is shocked that Kyouhei can take control without any ceremony. Were they mistaken? Rather than the twins, could the true ultimate seki be Kyouhei instead?
Kyouhei takes to the skies with Hibino and calls for his mother to join him, but his father steps in and says protecting her is his duty.
Kyouhei's father tells her he has something important to let her know. (Kirio's birth, I'm guessing.)
"Wait for me, Utao and Kirio!" says Kyouhei as he speeds towards the battlefield with Hibino.
Spoiler for Chapter 60:
Aki visits Nono the dog's grave and tells himself he owes Kyouhei one.
Old man Hyuga and Ayame are ejected from Amaterasu's cocoon.
Noting that Amaterasu is crumbling, Mahiru proposes she open a path for Utao to follow and rescue Kirio.
Everyone else are supposed to cover them.
Kirio is angry that Mahiru "stole" his Takemikazuch and tells everyone to die.
His attacks are deflected by Takemikazuchi's barrier.
Amaterasu attacks with wooden-looking appendages but Takemikazuchi smashes them with its arm blade.
Entering the hollow shell, Takemikazuchi is grabbed by a strange amorphous shape that had something like an eye.
Utao goes ahead.
Mahiru fires an attack but almost falls off Takemikazuchi.
Utao reaches Kirio.
Kirio impales Kukuri with multiple spikes.
Akatsumi attacks, trying to save his sister Mahiru.
Souya stands on his kakashi watching with a conflicted look, but his eyes turn evil.
He apologizes to Utao and Kirio, and decides to blow up everything for the sake of the village.
As Souya prepares to fire, Kyouhei smashes into his kakashi using the Kamotaketsuno he hijacked from Shion.
Kyouhei saves the falling Souya.
"Why did you save me?"
"Don't group me with you bastards."
Leaving Souya behind, Kyouhei speeds off.
Mahiru throws Kyouhei her katana, commenting how cool he is and stealing the scene.
Kyouhei tells Utao to stand up and use Kukuri to save Kirio.
With a powerful eye blast, Kukuri revives.
The two siblings converge in a twin attack to save Kirio.
Volume 11
Spoiler for Chapter 61:
Hibino watches from a distance.
She flashes back to Kyouhei dropping her off on a hill and telling him to take care.
Utao flashes back to reading a letter from that Tooru guy (the boy whose mother once snapped at Kyouhei because Aki killed her relative), who thanked her for letting him fly on Kukuri.
Utao renews her determination to make Kukuri a benevolent god.
Kyouhei unsheathes the katana.
As Kamotaketsuno gets impaled, Kyouhei jumps off and lands before Kirio.
The one eyed amorphous thing attacks Kyouhei.
Kyouhei blocks using the claw of Kamotaketsuno.
Rushing towards Kirio, another attack sends him reeling.
Utao arrives and blocks an attack aimed at Kyouhei.
Kyouhei begs Kamotaketsuno to last a little longer.
Suddenly a sword-like item appears from the amorphous blob.
(Most likely one of the 3 treasures -- the Kusanagi sword.)
The sword flies and knocks away Kukuri.
Kirio stands up and tells Utao to stay away.
Utao grabs him and says she knows what he really feels.
She says she understands all the hardship he went through, and hopes he can come home together.
Kirio thinks it's too late.
An attack approaches Utao, but Kyouhei cuts it with the katana.
Kukuri attacks the blob.
Shielding the three of them from the blob's attacks, Kukuri fires a powerful penetrating optical beam.
Amaterasu crumbles to pieces.
Kyouhei looks around to find that the 3 of them and Kukuri were picked up by Koushiro's kakashi.
Spoiler for Chapter 62:
Koushiro's kakashi explodes from earlier damage and crashes.
(Koushiro is on the ground anyway.)
Everyone's shocked faces.
Old man Hyuga Sahei comments it was all a dream after all.
Suddenly, Sahei and Ayame (his concubine) are attacked by snipers.
Koushiro hears gunshots.
Utao lands Kukuri with Kyouhei and Kirio.
Mahiru jumps down from her brother Akatsumi 's kakashi, aiming for Kyouhei, but Utao catches her with Kukuri.
Akatsumi reminds them to look for Koushiro.
Kyouhei remembers he left Hibino on that hill, Mahiru says forget about her.
Kyouhei sends Mahiru and Kirio to return first while he goes to find Hibino with Utao.
Hibino worries about Kyouhei, Utao and Kirio. Souya arrives.
With Ayame's assistance, Sahei evades the assassins.
Ayame thinks it must the Kuga but Sahei suspects his own son.
Ayame declares she won't let those people kill him.
Their pursuers chat amongst themselves, saying they have never shot humans before.
Borrowing his vest as a decoy, Ayame ambushes the attackers and guns them down.
Reporting back to Sahei, Ayame declares she is now free from distractions.
From the day she was sold here at the age of 14, Ayame had been plotting to kill Sahei with her own hands.
Sahei lunges at Ayame, insisting he cannot die yet, but she shoots him multiple times in the torso.
The strange one-eyed amorphous shape that appears to be Amaterasu's core (see Cyblaster's post for a picture) devours and combines with what appears to be the Kusanagi sword.
In its view, it sees Souya and Hibino.
Kyouhei arrives with Utao.
Hibino is upset by the injuries on Utao's face.
Kyouhei asks what Souya told Hibino, Hibino says it was nothing.
They are watched by Amaterasu.
Back at the shrine, Shion receives news that Amaterasu has been defeated.
Hiroshi asks granny to check out his sister, Atsushi's mother.
(Atsushi is Aki's half brother that was killed.)
Moyako is trying to wrestle the phone from Shion, who is looking for better reception.
Shion declares she will punish Kyouhei by tying him up and dragging around the streets until he begged for mercy.
Koushiro is understandably taken aback.
Just as people think things are about to cool off, Aki appears with Kuramitsuha.
"Sorry Shion, I'm afraid you won't have any time to rest."
Spoiler for Chapter 63:
At the shrine, Shion: "Aki... What are you doing here?"
Aki says it should be obvious.
Shion wonders if she can bluff her way and pretends she still has her kakashi.
Unfortunately, Kyouhei's mom points out Kyouhei stole her kakashi.
Aki laughs, saying I told you not to underestimate Kyouhei.
Shion: "When did you ever say that?"
Aki goes nevermind.
Someone yells out for Aki to duck.
Kyouhei's uncle (Shion and Souya's father) just fired a shot at Aki.
How dare you, says Aki and attacks with Kuramitsuha.
As Aki is about to kill him, Aki imagines the dead teacher asking him if he is going to kill again, and hesitates.
The villagers subdue Aki, but Kuuko joins in and knocks one out using a sheathed katana.
"It's been awhile, but you seem to have become more and more useless."
Scene changes to Koushiro, who slapped Kirio for causing trouble to everyone.
Kirio apologizes.
Koushiro asks if they are so untrustworthy that Kirio was so easily taken in by Old man Hyuuga's threats.
Akatsumi (Mahiru's brother) comments what a touching scene.
"By the way, Kyouhei-sama! I am very concerned about something..."
"?"
Mahiru points out though the form looks similar, Amaterasu is different from the one they fought many years ago.
Kyouhei agrees there was a different feeling.
Mahiru says she already found the remains of the one they defeated in the forest.
Kyouhei begins to think if the one many years ago was Amaterasu then this one is...
Akatsumi wants to go home, play video games and eat.
Mahiru: "Shut up!! Dead pig!!"
Utao points out Koushiro's wounds need treatment.
However, they only have 2 functional kakashi's left to ride.
Akatsumi gives Kouhei a new nickname: the Kakashi Killer.
Mahiru suddenly realizes something and accuses Hibino of requesting to go to the washroom with her.
Grabbing Hibino's hand, Mahiru drags her away, declaring her own generosity in not letting a city dweller relieve herself alone in the woods.
Akatsumi apologizes for his sister's lack of manners.
Kyouhei says same here.
Utao goes "Hey!"
It turns out Mahiru is the one who needs to go, but her outfit is extremely time consuming to get in or out of.
Mahiru goes into the bushes, ordering Hibino to keep watch in case any males come to peep.
Hearing a noise, Hibino checks it out and finds a naked version of herself.
It turns out the core of "Amaterasu" has shaped its form to imitate her. It proceeds to knock her unconscious.
Unable to find Hibino, Mahiru returns and reports to the group.
Kyouhei suggests splitting up, Akatsumi and Utao will search from the sky while Kyouhei covers the ground.
Koushiro should rest while Kirio stays with him.
Akatsumi drags Mahiru with him.
Kirio chats with Koushiro, who expects Moyako to kill him for breaking his kakashi.
Back at the shrine, Aki declares to his adoptive grandfather (the Kuga patriarch) he is here to collect some old debts. (*Note: Aki's father married into the Kuga family so in terms of actual ancestry, Aki has zero Kuga blood.)
Old man Kuga: I don't recall borrowing anything from you...
Aki: I don't remember lending anything out either, but much has been robbed from me.
Aki locks them all into the shrine.
When asked what he hopes to gain from this, Aki replies who cares, he will think about it later.
Mahiru bickers with her brother as they search for Hibino on his kakashi.
Akatsumi points out it's her fault that she lost Hibino in the first place.
Mahiru: I know!!
Utao is also searching on Kukuri.
As Kyouhei searches and calls out Hibino's name, he has an uneasy feeling. He also wonders what is the current monster kakashi if it is not the Amaterasu that he fought.
Flashback: Akatsumi: You are the kakashi killer.
Aki: That is your true nature.
Kyouhei thinks: damn it, everyone is mocking me...
He suddenly spots a naked HIbino.
"Hi-Hibino-san?"
Back to Kirio and Koushiro, they suddenly hear someone arguing because they are lost.
Kirio recognizes the voice and goes to check.
Just as he thought, it was detective Karahari (Kuuko's father) and his subordinate.
Spoiler for Chapter 64:
Utao searches from the sky on Kukuri and finds the unconscious Hibino.
Meanwhile, Kyouhei is in shock as he is approached by the naked fake Hibino.
"Amaterasu"'s thought bubbles convey its intentions pictorially: it can recharge its Kusanagi sword using Kyouhei.
However, a calm Kyouhei is no good, so Amaterasu proceeds to push Kyouhei down for a kiss.
As "Amaterasu" sucks his energy, Kyouhei realizes this Hibino is fake and the presence he felt belongs to...
Give me your power, says "Amaterasu" in Kyouhei's mind, and reaches its right hand into his abdomen.
Release the innermost feelings you have suppressed and buried in the depths of your mind.
Your soul.
However, Kyouhei grabs "Amaterasu"'s arm. Don't underestimate me. All of you only know how to spout nonsense. I won't let you do as you wish!
"Amaterasu": yes, this is it. Next will be...
Suddenly, Mahiru arrives to the rescue and kicks "Amaterasu" away.
"What are you doing to Kyouhei-sama, you stupid woman!"
"No Mahiru, she is..."
"I know."
"Amaterasu" summons the Kusanagi sword.
Mahiru laughs and reminds "Amaterasu" it already lost against the combined efforts of her and Kyouhei-sama, so taking Hibino's form is not going to change anything.
Calling her brother, Mahiru orders him to open fire since he is the only one with a kakashi right now.
As "Amaterasu" is about to attack, a blast comes down from the sky.
"Amaterasu" escapes.
Utao has arrived on Kukuri with the real Hibino.
Utao searches the ground as "Amaterasu" suddenly jumps up to attack her.
Kukuri's punch sends it flying.
Kyouhei is happy that the real Hibino is fine.
Mahiru accuses her of shamelessly seducing Kyouhei-sama with her naked body.
"Wait... that's not me!!"
As Hibino fully realizes her naked form is running around she tries to cover up in a fit of confusion.
"Why am I trying to cover up?"
"I feel so embarrassed!"
Back at the shrine, Kuuko surveys the surrounding damage and concludes that some kind of internal conflict is going on in the village.
Aki nonchalantly explains that everyone is out looking for Amaterasu.
Kuuko exclaims that they must join the big battle.
Aki says that since Kyouhei went, the battle is likely finished.
Aki comments that he is waiting for someone he doesn't know yet, but it is close.
In the forest, "Amaterasu" reforms its left arm but it crumbles. It glances off to the distance at the shrine.
Meeting up with Kirio and Koushiro at the car of Kuuko's father, Kyouhei gives them directions to leave the village.
Kyouhei leaves Kirio and Koushiro in their hands.
Utao gives Kirio a goodbye hug.
Mahiru's brother Akatsumi comments he is hungry after doing so much.
Hibino apologizes, but Akatsumi points out it's Mahiru's fault.
"Say that again."
Kyouhei tells Mahiru and Akatsumi to go back first while he goes visit Moyako to ask about the humanoid kakashi.
Mahiru wants to tag along but Utao throws her away using Kukuri.
After they leave, Akatsumi comments what about Aki?
Mahiru thinks to herself, damn, I forgot to mention Aki was at Moyako's. But Moyako said he left already, hope it will be fine. Then again, in that case...
At the shrine, Kuuko is surprised by the arrival of a naked Hibino.
"Didn't you fly off with Kyouhei? No! That aside, why are you looking like that!! Even in a natural environment like the countryside, that's not the way to be open..."
Small text shows Kuuko saying to herself: scared me there, it gives me a certain sense of defeat...
Aki: "Stand back, she's not that girl."
"A kakashi in human form... But no matter, the person I waited for is finally here (even though it's not a person). Let me extend a welcome for now."
Spoiler for Chapter 65:
Chapter opens with a shot of Aki and Kyouhei in their childhood with a caption: impossible to go back.
Aki's father's wife (Atsushi's mother, the one who refused to leave her house) calls for an old lady, and is looking for her brother to find out what is going on.
The old lady warns her not to go near the shrine because Aki has everyone as hostages.
"A-Aki..."
Back at the shrine, Aki is confronting the Hibino-form kakashi who is wielding the sword.
Aki says he sensed that it would come, and it reminded him of the incident many years ago.
The same feeling... The lack of human presence, and the hollow kakashi.
Completely emotionless.
Fake Hibino's eyes show some kind of change.
Aki is drawn into his mental world.
Meanwhile, Fake Hibino appraises Aki: the most suitable body, and identifies Kuuko's Yasakani no Magatama (the jewel from Japan's 3 treasures) as a an energy amplifier.
With these two (Aki and the jewel), it will be able to defeat the kakashi and the mirror controlled by the most suitable host (Utao? is the one shown in the panel).
Meanwhile, Kyouhei and gang are at Moyako's and Utao is having her wounds treated.
Moyako notes how thoroughly Kukuri has been damaged.
And then Hibino goes "Now it's time for Kyouhei to take off his pants." "Eh!?"
Kyouhei says it's just a scratch, but Hibino worries about an infection.
Utao: "Take it off! Take it off!"
In his embarrassment, Kyouhei recalls the naked form of Fake Hibino, and Hibino immediately sees through his thoughts.
Utao is clueless.
Kyouhei concedes by saying he'll treat his wound himself.
Moyako comes over to ask what's up.
Kyouhei has some bad news.
Moyako and her grandfather have a nervous breakdown when they hear that Uwazutsu, Mikumari, Takemikaduti and Kamotaketsuno are all damaged and unusable.
Back to the shrine, Fake Hibino makes its move on Aki but gets impaled by Kuramitsuha, and is sent crashing into the shrine.
Aki notes that with its injuries, its mobility is at the level that Kuramitsuha can handle easily.
More fighting and Aki notes Fake Hibino's slugglishness.
Aki smashes it into the ground, saying he knew that its habitual strategy was getting close to consume a seki's heart for power.
"An autonomous kakashi eh, if the legends are correct..."
Back at Moyako, she has recovered but still very depressed.
Searching through the archives, there were two kakashi -- Amaterasu and Tokotachi.
If the one Kyouhei destroyed 9 years ago was Amaterasu, the current one is Tokotachi.
Kyouhei asks why would it look like Amaterasu.
Moyako says there are virtually no records, and that they were never formally incorporated under the village administration.
By deduction, Tokotachi's ability is to copy other's appearance and powers.
Before entering a dormant state in the old passage, it was heavily damaged for some reason and then copied Amaterasu's abilities for self repair.
That is Moyako's guess.
Back to Aki, who is thinking to himself, I must be crazy for facing this kakashi and feeling so excited.
After returning to the village after so many months, the village seemed so narrow and cheap.
Was he struggling in such a narrow world all this time?
Laughable.
In his mind, Young Aki yells at him, saying no matter how narrow, that world was once everything to him.
Another Aki comments that there is no place left for him in the past or the future.
His only choice is to play with than human-looking thing.
In the real world, Aki finds himself attacked by Fake Hibino, who manages to cut through Kuramitsuha's blade.
However, Shimoyama (the guy working for the senator) saves him by blasting Fake Hibino with a shotgun.
Aki declares, "Even if there is no place left for me, I will not be killed by this thing here... No such ending."

Reason: Update Chapter 65.
My conclusion after ep 10 is they will end the 1st season with the battle in vol 7. And they will wait until vol 12 come out to have enough materials for 2nd season.
I don't know, with the way things are going, the story could conceivably wrap up within a year and conclude with Volume 11.
That might not leave enough material for a 2nd season without oddly placed fillers.

Probably, since the kakashi were all named early on and they are supposed to be inspired by traditional Japanese legends.
After all, the dolls are central to the story and gives it the title.

Spoiler for THE Hibino scene:
During the Hibino falling from the Kukuri scene, I wished the anime was more faithful and animated the Sion flyby, which was the reason Utao lost control in the first place. This was in volume 3 or 4 I believe and Sion's real debut is in volume 8. That's some good foreshadowing there.
Spoiler:
Shion is loads of fun as a character but I guess such an early introduction wouldn't work in the anime because she won't appear again before the season ends.
The anime version does make Utao look more incompetent though.
We'll see if Kyouhei's next flashback will feature Shion in a cameo appearance.
The anime has been gearing up and breezing through the manga material in order to reach a certain point.
For those interested, here's a comparison of removed/modified scenes.
Spoiler for Anime Episode 10:
Looks like they truly plan on ending the season with the resolution of Hibino's capture, which is a good place to stop (Chapter 42 of the manga).
Lots of scenes cut out...
We miss Hibino setting Utao up on a date, which is part of an entire omitted subplot.
I guess there's enough scenes developing Utao and her resolve to use Kukuri for good.
I wonder how they will modify Mahiru's next grand appearance when she unintentionally offends Utao with where she lands.
In the 8 year flashback, they took out the beginning when Aki was attacking bears for practice, and the whole reason Mahiru is unconscious is because Aki was chasing her for spying on them.
Another cameo appearance of one of the Kuga seki is cut out.
At the end, Kyouhei is supposed to tell Koushiro that the incident caused him to lose all confidence as a seki and Aki lost his privileges due to Kuramitsuha's damage.
Mahiru playing with Kuuko's taser is fun, but it would be funnier if they included the parts where she misfires the taser and when she drops it and picks it up in embarrassment.
Too bad we don't see Shimoyama approaching Aki and getting threatened with a blade at his throat.
Or Kuuko trailing Aki using the GPS she installed on the phone she gave him.
Nor do they show Kuuko "convincing" Shimoyama to take her along to the meeting with Hirashiro.
Things are also streamlined with Mahiru appearing during Aki's first meeting with Hirashiro (in the manga, he goes home to consider; Mahiru interrupts his 2nd meeting when Aki proposes his conditions to Hirashiro).
It also looks like we won't be getting the scene when Hibino asks Kyouhei about the kakashi and he introduces all their names.

For the most part I agree with cuts and reordering of scenes and events the anime has done so far. I felt that volumes 4 and 5 contained quite a bit of filler material.
I wish the beach scene was cut to properly introduce the Diet member subplot. But I guess there must always be an anime Beach scene. I think that the fact that the Kakashi can be used for good is already established by Utao saving Hibino from the truck.
Spoiler for Response to the other cuts:
Cutting Aki using the bears as practice is definitely a disappointment. It would have tied in to the rumors that he kills animals. I was hoping they would devote an episode or at least a good part (3/4) of an episode to this important flashback.
Agreed on Mahiru loosing control of the taser. It definitely with be in tone with the sudden comedy in serious situations the series has established.
And agreed on the Shimoyama and the related subplot. Again a good reason to cut the beach scene.
I am glad they cut the mountain practice scene and the long subplot of Utao and the boy.
Which volume and page has Kyouhei introducing all the Kakashi names?
I don't know, with the way things are going, the story could conceivably wrap up within a year and conclude with Volume 11.
That might not leave enough material for a 2nd season without oddly placed fillers.
I am thinking the manga in ending in either volume 11 or 12 myself. So that's potentially for 5 more volumes to go. Should be enough for a very faithful 12 episode season. Though I think they should probably go the Black Lagoon route with the OVAs, which were numbered as if they are episodes of the tv series.
Action scenes tend to go fast when animated, though if they can put additional detail into all the kakashi action, all the better.

Spoiler for Anime comments/speculation:
As a standalone work, I agree that the anime has done an admirable job.
All of the rearrangements work well and the cut material is usually nonessential.
Some omissions are a bit inexplicable though, especially single lines of dialogue.
For example, when they bring Kukuri back to the village for repairs, Moyako comments that it is good that they picked up Kukuri's severed right hand because the knife was made of a rare metal and irreplaceable.
It provides a nice hint that Kukuri's knife is more special than it looks.
Well, I guess the whole "Utao meets Boy" subplot also serves to show how normal villagers feel about the ruling structure as well as show innocent victims of Aki's massacre.
More world building and context, but I do agree it's a luxury that a 1-cour anime can't afford.
The manga does take it slow in some places in order to maintain the 6 chapters per volume and end each volume with a cliffhanger.
On the other hand, without another fight between Utao and Kirio, it makes less sense for Koushiro to pressure Kirio into the peacemaking meeting.
I wonder how they will alter Mahiru's next visit to Kyouhei since there won't be Utao's gift from the boy for Mahiru to step on.
That is an important point because that's what Utao is thinking of when she later challenges Mahiru and says she has her own reasons to fight.

Volume 4, Chapter 24, Page 202
Spoiler for Context:
It happens after Hibino shows them the childhood photos and Utao falls asleep.
The extra material at the end of Volume 4 also has further notes on the kakashi's, explaining the origins of the names, how they move through space, and even the origin of Aki's dog's name.

Reason: Sorry, should be Volume 4, not 3
Thank you. I found mine in Volume 4, based on your context. One page, so easy to miss. I also agree that the anime cut some useful lines that would really add extra depth without taking up much screen time.
Oh what a nice spoiler thank you very much, i found the web site for raw of Kamisama Dollsa and there so much to read, but here my question first (also apply to anyone who read this message ) Do you or anyone know if Kyouhei ever kisses anyone from the series? It look like it possible

Chapter 57
Spoiler for ch57:
Ok, from what I can figure out is that Utao begins the attack to rescue Kirio (and fails of course)
Then we have Aki, who comments to Moyako that he has to go (rescus Kyohei?) There is a small flashback in how Aki and Kyohei met each other (Aki was bullied by the same person that killed sensei when they were younger, to be interrupted by Kyohei who was probably training for the first time with Kukuri)
Kyohei manages to break free from the jail thing (because some of the bars were loose, mostly due to Aki's doing in the past.He stumbles onto more scribblings of Aki, which all say, "Must kill Kyohei..."
Chapter ends with Utao and the others readying a second wave attack.

Just to add
Spoiler for 57:
It's implied Kyouhei intentionally bugged in, and the ceremony they were going to attend is Kuramitsuha's bonding ceremony, that Aki didn't want to attend because he thought the seki relationship was predetermined, but Kyouhei told him that's not set in stone because the bond depends on if Kuramitsuha responds.
Looks like Mahiru is also getting a modded (improved?) Magatsuhi back too.
There's no way they have enough firepower to take on Amaterasu still at the moment. Probably gonna wait till 6 vs. 1.
I hope Kyouhei gets either Mikumari or Tokotachi (temporarily maybe, and Aki gets the other one haha) before the end, though I'm curious what Kukuri's new tricks are.

nope, Utao still has Kukuri.
Although, I wouldn't be surprised if in the future volumes, we would see some more ancient Kakashis, which would basically be similar to the Amaterasu type and that the village just reverse engineered these things.

Spoiler:
Aki doesn't even know Kyouhei is imprisoned.
He says he is going ahead whether or not Moyako helps him unseal Kuramitsuha.
Moyako asks how Aki first met Kyouhei, hence the flashback.
Actually, Kyouhei only feigns incompetence and crash lands Kukuri in order to drive Atsushi away.
It was Atushi's big day to inherit Kuramitsuha, but we can all guess who ended up chosen by Kuramitsuha...
I don't think Aki could have cut those metal bars cleanly by himself...
Hirashiro must have arranged it to free Aki.
Kyouhei doesn't discover additional scribblings, he's just looking back at the cell before he leaves, thinking to himself he owes Aki one.

Spoiler:
Mahiru is taking Koushiro's suggestion and asking Moyako to switch Kirio's Takemikazuchi to her control.
I don't know if Magatsuhi can be fixed...
It was pretty much smashed to pieces and exploded. RIP Magatsuhi
I don't think Kukuri has any new abilities, it just looks more heavily armoured.
Well, Utao has yet to fully utilize Kukuri's old abilities anyway.
Why would Kyouhei take control of Souya's Mikumari?
I think Aki is sticking with Kuramitsuha to the end; the only question is what can the fully unsealed Kuramitsuha do?
(On that note, 8 years ago during their first encounter with Amaterasu, Kuramitsuha should have been unsealed back then but Aki didn't do anything special.)
Kukuri under Kyouhei's control should be a match for Amaterasu but I really don't see Kyouhei stealing control from Utao once again.
Tokotachi seems to be only choice for Kyouhei to enter the battle as a seki.
I'd like to see the full form of Shion's kakashi but I don't really think they have 3 days to do the modifications.

Episode 12 would correspond roughly to Chapters 36-39.
Utao has the same role; the anime follows the manga quite closely, especially for the major characters.
Given Utao's attachment to Kukuri, I don't think she would ever agree to switch dolls.

I don't even know if the village technicians are able to create new kakashi's from scratch.
The ancient inventor that created the kakashi's for the village as thanks for helping him escape political persecution only made 10.
That's the village's 8 surviving ones (until recently), plus 2 that were lost in some ancient incident (Amaterasu + Tokotachi).
So the only kakashi yet to appear is Tokotachi.

Sounds like Kyouhei will ultimately be the Seki for Tokotachi. Kukuri definitely fits Utao more as far as appearances go.
Spoiler for Tokotachi:
Didn't Kuuko and gang stumble upon Tokotachi when they are initially infiltrating the village? I recall one of the volumes where someone found something buried in a similar way as Amaterasu when Kyouhei and gang found it.
From the myth, Tokotachi looks like it will be powerful, on par or above Amaterasu.
There could have been an intentional miss-identification by the author. Maybe the one destroyed by Kyouhei before was Tokotachi and not Amaterasu. Amaterasu's latest form is more inline with the mythology that it was a sky goddess. The design in the flashbacks looks more like a tank which fits Tokotachi's mythology of being connected to the earth. It does seem that Amaterasu and Tokotachi are being established as the two most powerful Kakashis' with a connection between the two.
However, the Amaterasu that emerged from the cocoon looks exactly the same as the one in Kyouhei's flashback.
In-universe, Aki comments that ancient scrolls describe Amaterasu as a 4-legged kakashi notable for its self regeneration ability.
This description fits the kakashi in the flashback as well as the current Amaterasu before it evolved.
Unless Tokotachi looks the same and has similar abilities as Amaterasu, it can't be the kakashi that Kyouhei already destroyed 8 years ago.
