very good ep, i woudl prefer hisagi to be the lead character over ichigo any day, animation and directing were rock solid

What an awesome episode! About time we got to see more of Hisagi.
It has been said before, there are so many great characters in Bleach who don't get the airtime they deserve, so it's good to see them in the spotlight.

My lol-moment: the comment at the end of the OD , as for some reason noone else can do anything while the pillar fights go on.

Could someone tell me when abouts we learn that "resurreccion" is the released form of the espadas? I'm sure they talked about it before, but I felt like I never had heard it used before the pillar fights.

And what's the deal with Fondor smashing his mask to get stronger? Is this some specialty of him, or why doesn't anyone else do that?
Is it some kind of counterpart to the Vizards who get stronger when putting on their mask?

It has been mentioned in 2 episodes for sure. First Cirucci Thunderwitch mentioned that a released form of an arrancar is called ressurection.

Second in the Grimmjaw-Ichigo fight, Halibel told her fraction to remember the fear caused by an espada in resurrection form. Perhaps it has been mentioned elsewhere?

I agree with Shuuhei's character that Findor's annoyed as well to the end with all of his "Exacto" and "I'm right" crap.

Nevertheless, the battle delivered superb choreography and tough fights.

I'm especially fond of three particular pieces of music played at several scenes.

Spoiler:

The first one was an aria denoting how much desperate Shuuhei felt struggling against Findor's maniac onslaught, once the Arrancar released his Resurreccion form.

The second music track evoked Shuuhei's counterattack on Findor, once the Shinigami turned progressively the tide of the battle by releasing Kazeshini.

The third one played towards the end of the episode, which emphasizes that Aizen's side has finally scored a significant victory with the destruction of one of the pillars that Ikkaku lost to against that giant Arrancar.

it improved a lot from Mayuri-Byakuya-Kenpachi fight, that was some bad animation compare to this.. with the dark, dark shadow lines; especially, on Kenpachi. A lot other things.

I would LOVE to see Hinamori using Shikai again, since her release is pure awesomeness. Not to mention that she as character is lovely too <3

Btw that Arrancer is damn stupid. He flew into a house ... and got hit by Hisagis attack from behind even though the chain is moving 5mm from him all the time. Its not like he didnt know that at the end there is a rotating scythe waiting.

Really good ep.. I thought that 69 guy was going to get owned but it turned out to be Ikkaku!!!! OOOOHHHH the shame! OOOhhh the sadness ... He'll now have to use his bankai for everyone to see otherwise he'll get seriously owned.... which for his squad is even more shameful ... oohhh I feel ashamed for him....

You mean like Ichigo now a days Half the time, Ichigo's in Bankai before the fight's even started lol

Okay, I seriously lol'd here.

On the other hand, I think its wise to save your aces. Not at the cost of losing, but hopefully critically assessing the situation and deciding whether its time to use the next trick or not. It's always good to have surprises stored for the next enemy you fight. Unfortunately, Hisagi seems to stick to this rule too much - but that's all I'm going to say.

Unless you think going all out is going to give you a five second victory and no chance for your opponents to accurately assess your strength.

Come to think, Hisagi is one of the few shinigami thus far who faced a resurrected/released form of an arrancar without even pulling out their shikai.

Nonononono. It's shounen rules: Whoever releases first LOSES. Whoever releases last WINS.

At least that's the general pattern Bleach seems to run in. Whoever saves their power for last ends up being the last man standing.

^^pretty much. Lately, Ichigo's becoming the consistent golden exception to the pattern though.
