Open to suggestions :)
Hello everyone, first of all, I'm new here. Thought I'd get the introduction and my first question out of the way. So, lately I've been watching a lot of romance animes, mostly high school/college ones. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions for ones with a supernatural element or mystery; or a more defining story where it deals with a bigger story than the just the main characters falling in love.
Would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks ^.^ |

If you don't mind seeing a sci fi series, Steins;Gate is your friend. The MC and other side characters are either college students or high schoolers. Be warned, it involves patience but ends up being wrth it in the end.
Other than that you could check out Another and Durarara(a story told through many perspectives). Bakemonogatari kinda depends on you whether you'll like or not, but has some pretty creative dialouge imo. |

Kamisama Hajimemashita should be right up your alley.
The second part of your request doesn't make it clear if romance is a requirement or not. If not, I recommend Twelve Kingdoms, Seirei no Moribito, and Mononoke as three excellent shows with supernatural aspects. There's less about the supernatural, but a bit more romance, in Saiunkoku Monogatari. None of these are set in modern times, though. You might also give Blood+ a try; sorry that the only streamed version is dubbed.

You could possibly go with a few series with these requirements Highschool of the dead is an okay series if you can get past the fan service and another is okay although I found it a bit too slow, also the world god only knows which is probably the best supernatural romance I've seen so that would be the one I would choose over anything else for you

Quite a few good recommendations already.
You might also try Spice and Wolf, about trading and the rise of the Christian Church (main characters are a travelling merchant and a pagan deity). The currently airing Kotoura san might be worth checking out, even though it's only 2 episodes old so far. But what's there is very good; attention to detail and good handling of characters. Next you might try, try Otome Youkai Zakuro, a show about youkai and human integration during the westernisation of Japan. And the same theme, but in a modern high-school setting, Peto Peto san. Can't think of anything else for the moment. |
