This, combined with the fact that Shinji doesn't find Kensuke during his "I'm aimlessly wandering around after running away" phase, leads me to believe that focus will be shifted off Touji and Kensuke in favor of these new pilot(s). Some other fate awaits Unit 04, I'd say...

Well, I remember reading the movies contain lots of new material and not just better quality video like the renewal series so, this should be good. We've had enough "remakes" already.
Maybe Keisuke gets a makeover and becomes really cool to be one of the pilots

Seems the movie got a pretty good reception on première day according to the Newtype and Cinema Topics sites.
In Shinjuku alone there were already 800 people or more queueing by 4am on Saturday morning. The 1046 seating Shinjuku Milano 1 theatre alone was filled up 7 times in a roll and people were clapping after the movie ended. The next day there were a total of 5542 viewers making revenues of 15,639,500 Yen (US$135,000) for the theatre over the weekend. The national stats for the première in 84 cinemas are 236,158 viewers and a revenue of 280,424,200 Yen (US$2,428,396) for the weekend. An average of over 3 million Yen (US$26,000) per cinema. Good considering its fanbase of course since a movie such as Ghibli's "Spirited Away" had 810,000 Japanese viewers and revenues of 1 billion over its weekend. It premièred in 343 cinemas though and obviously has a much wider audience. Stat sources are Tabulo and this site.

One thing to keep in mind is that since there isn't really any way to differentiate whether or not the original announcement refers to only one new machine (plurals don't exist in Japanese in the same way that they do in English) it is entirely possible that we could have more than one new machine (likely) and more than one new character (not quite so likely). It would be neat if we got units 5 and 6 in addition to 4 (in the original series 5 and 6 get scrapped for spare parts after the fight with Zeruel) as well as the F-Type Eva from SRW@3 and Jet Alone 2 though I'm fairly certain that last one won't happen. Edit: Also since there are supposedly 8 angels remaining what are everyone's personal wish lists for appearing angels? So far I've got: Spoiler:

I dont know if this is real, but I've found a possible raw of the recently realeased "Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0: You are not alone" which can be found at : http://isohunt.com/download/25340212/evangelion
However the torent contains a encrypted zip file with a password. As for a possible hint to the password the file contains a html which can be found at : http://weirdguille.googlepages.com/Password.html on that page is a buch of links and one sentence: パスワードは上記リンク先のアドレスの"http://"の次から数えて5番目と6番目を並べた8文字です。 I'm assuming a hint at the password, but as I don't know Japanese, i can't tell. If anyone has any ideas, please post, thanks in advance. Sorry if it makes you waste your time, but please try if you can. |

Better run your favourite spyware scanner if you've been visiting those pages with IE
It's obviously a fake. All the evangelion fans clicking away on those links would generate plenty of "pay per click" traffic for the poster's affiliates.

Say, can anyone provide a link that has images for the EVAs. I need to compare and contrast the color pattern on the TV version -vs- the '-1.0 Movie'. It seems to me that the green coloring on EVA 01 is much brighter than his TV counterpart. But I also want to see if there was any change in the body design. I haven't been able to find much. And by this time you all know that the movie did well. Taking #1. But I kind of find it interesting in the numbers in Japan -vs- over here. I mean a animated movie can pull in $2 mil and that's good compared to here. If a movie made $2 mil here it's too low. It has to pull in at least almost $100 mil during the first week. Like 'Transformers' took in $70+ mil the first week. 'Rebuild took in $2.??+ mil the first week. I just find it interesting in the numbers.

Keep in mind though that it played in less than 100 theaters.
2 million for less than 100 theaters is pretty damn good. A miyazaki movie in comparison plays in about 300 or so theaters as Xcomp noted. The movie industry in Japan is VERY different than in America. So much so that much of the time comparisons are pretty much useless.
