Maybe they won't skip the mahjong now that they're in the national tournament. Seriously though, an anime about a certain sport can't be good if you don't show the sport itself. You can't just keep building and building up!

Yes, this spin-off have a long build up. Its story is set in "Story first , Character development later" style. You just have to wait. It's not so long from here.

I didn't read the manga but so far it's pretty good and entertaining.

I love the scene where Saki appears in ep3 .. she looks so badass.

That scene alone makes me want to rewatch all of Saki season 1 again, although, dark Saki is nowhere to be found.

Although this series has the name "Saki" in it, I hope this will be the last we will see of Saki for the season. I really don't want spoilers for season 2 of Saki, whenever that will be.

Um. Go to the scene in season one... where... Saki darted into the mahjong room to wish Nodoka "good luck" before Nodoka begins her round in the prefectural finals. There's a camera angle in that scene that'll answer your question.

She does not in the anime proper.

The answer to why she is wearing a long skirt is in the manga though.

Now we're getting some of the superpowered mahjong action that the show's known for. Kuro's Dragon Road was pretty nice, and seeing Kana again was a pleasant surprise. Kotaro too. With the show getting deeper into the nationals, I'm enjoying it quite a bit (and since Kiyosumi's on the opposite side of the board, our chances of getting spoiled are pretty low), but there's still the problem of the Achiga-originating character designs not being nearly as distinctive as the main series. I get that they're supposed to be side characters, but some way to differentiate them would be a huge help.

Wow they really keep blowing by these eps, the pace is so fast. At least we got to see a little bit of attention to the mahjong. Now its time for the tough match. Hopefully we will see all of the mahjong next ep.

Another good episode. I loved the extra content in this episode along with the manga bits. But for real Dragon Lord sounds so so much better than Dragon Road. Next match seems like its going to go all episode.

Dragon Lord sounds familiar... though i think an original like Dragon Road will be better. Plus you can't change the subs for it as it is theirs. *Reverses the moves of Peanutbutter*

Personally, Dragon Lord sounds more badass. But, dragon road sounds like a good finishing move. Hmm... lets refer Kuro-chan as Dragon Lord who's special abitility is the dragon road ... the road paved by doras. lol

Kiyosumi team sans Saki seems to be at the auditorium watching the lottery, if the drawer is anyone but Arata I'm sure that Nodoka will have some idea that her childhood friends are indeed here. Arata is the only one that Nodoka don't personally know so she was the one that represented Achiga. Kudos to the author she has a plausible reason why Nodoka hasn't noticed her childhood friends walking about.

Sucks to be Achiga though, they are in the other side of the bracket very far from Kiyosumi. They also have the honor of playing Shiraitodai if they go far enough. And the description of Shiraitodai is quite funny - "killer team". (HorribleSubs) Still, I grinned when they said that Teru was not human. They're really hyping her up.

Yeah, they will have to play with The first (Shiratodai) and The second (Senriyama) rank school of the country before they get to play with Kiyosumi. It might be a good training for them
