It was episode 5 when Kyoko first confronts Sayaka and explains how the food chain is suppose to work. They said something along the lines of...
Sayaka: It's because of selfish magical girls like you that Mami ended up dieing! Kyoko: You know you just really pissed me off now... Quote:
Now the way I would personally picture Kyoko and Mami's relationship going would be something like this. Kyoko and Mami meet each other during a battle with a witch where one possibly saves the other after this they become comrades in arms teaming up to fight witches they normally wouldn't be able to beat alone. After a few adventures together their bound becomes even stronger this leads to the two of them telling their stories. Then one night on her way out Kyoko's dad confronts her about why she's been sneaking out feeling as if she has no other chose tells him her secret. Once he finds out he goes ballistic calling her a witch to which Kyoko runs away most likely out of fear and frustration after being gone for awhile Kyoko is convinced to go back (possibly by Mami). However to her horror is not welcomed home with open arms but pile of bodies Mami after finding this out offers Kyoko comfort and maybe even a place to stay. This is when Kyoko turns her back on Mami saying that she was a idiot for ever believing in protecting others and from then on vowels to look out for herself once again leaving Mami all alone.

I remember the second line, but it was said during Sayaka's conversation with Madoka in episode 6. As to whether she was right or not, I can't give opinions. We haven't seen that many magical girls in action here.

Oh and thanks I was considering making this theory into a fic but I don't think I'm that good at writing...

Mami want a comrade, but Madoka ended up becoming God(dess) and Mami even lost all of those memories about her. Kyouko liked Sayaka but Sayaka ended ups sacrificing for a guy she liked/ or for the music he played, whatever worked.... It won't be strange if it was Homura who couldn't stand all those lovey-dovey between those two. That's why she rather go alone with QB

Mami's...kind of alone now. But still, in the new universe, there are three of them! So that makes Kyoko and Mami. Although it's not that really much implied at the end, I'd still go with Mami/Homura and Kyoko/Sayaka. Homura/Madoka was just, I think, four episodes later? QB deserves no partner, even if the universe is already altered...

Kyuubey and Homura... Talk about acid pairings.
Generally, Homura approaching Madoka can be read quite confidently as her staying faithful to the pink-haired valkyrie. As t' working alone, it's quite an explanation (it's been a long while since she last worked in a team), but the pacing of TL6 scenes makes many things questionable. Actually, Oriko teaser mentions Kyouko fighting alone... And then the paths cross. Can it actually be the story of how the three of them teamed up? Although in this case the teaser leaves out Sayaka... |

Episode 5 around 18:00
Kyouko says Sayaka must let the familiar go. Sayaka replies that someone will die if they leave it alone. Kyouko then says that you need to wait for it to eat a few people so it can turn into a witch. I think it is implied that familiars act alone else kyoko and mami would look for the witch nearby when they found the familiars.

Which is a distinction without a difference really, because, as we see multiple times, Familiars are Minions who basically declared independence from the Witch that spawned them. Difference being that Familiars are Minions who can go off and do their own thing.

When I first started the series, I hated Kyoko. She seemed like a despicable and really horrible person, and I couldn't wait for her to die. But then her character development started happening after the Soul Gem reveal, and not only did my hate vanish, but she then also became one of my two favorite characters in the series {The other one being Homura}.
I love Kyoko because of how interesting of a character she is, and how she is certainly not someone you judge from first impressions {But then again, the same thing can be said for just about every character in the show}. I can even understand why she temporarily became evil or at least really amoral, as what she went through in her backstory would have messed up anyone, let alone a child/teenager {It's hard to tell how young she was when her life went to hell}. |
