anime/manga suggestion fantasy or sci-fi

Hi,
I'm looking for a new anime to watch or manga to read, I would prefer an anime that is either sci-fi ish or fantasy, and has a good storyline/ character build. Some romance/sex would be nice but i don't think its a huge requiremnt.

some of my favorite animes are;
Fate stay night
Shaman King
Bleach
Ouran High
i've seen parts of FMP but i think its been licensed now
gundam seed and GS destiny
soyukuu no fafner
Star Ocean (what ever happened to this, i never did see the end)

thanks a lot for the help!

and others that i can't think of at the moment

For Scy Fi:
Ergo Proxy good sci-fi made in a distant future.
Gantz good amount of Scy Fy, with Gore and some sex and romance.

Fantasy:

Full Metal Alchemist Great Fantasy adventure.
Bastard Fanstays with a mature content.
Houshin Engi Great fantasy story and a good Character development ( I recomend the Manga).

For Manga you can go for: Blame, Ghost in the Shell, Battle Angel Alita. and Berserk,

Sci-fi (Mecha type)

Code Geass
Ghost In The Shell SAC

and FMP is nice even though it is licensed...

For ouran type anime just try School Rumble and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (there's some sci-fi in it )

for fantasy similar to fate just try Zero no Tsukaima and Shakugan no Shana

Sci-fic + Fantasy:

Noein
Kurau Phantom Memory
Scrapped Princess
Fantastic Children - keep in mind this is slow at the beginning but is awesome near the end
Gankutsuou - again takes time to get used to the character designs
Hoshi no Koe - short but great
Last Exile

Seikai saga, 4 series/seasons so far and some side stories.

Crest of the Stars (Seikai no Monshou)
Banner of the Stars I (Seikai no Senki I)
Banner of the Stars II (Seikai no Senki II)
Banner of the Stars III (Seikai no Senki III)

One of the best character development, on par with Monster (psychological thriller though). Scifi: aliens & space. Has romance but quite subtle.

A bit of fantasy too perhaps -- space elf.

I'm about halfway through Planetes. Nice mix of both comedic and dramatic elements. The characters are debris collectors working in orbit around the earth, in other words, cosmic garbage collectors.
