S^3 has put the project on hold ( I know, I edit it for them). I will however pick it back up if a raw is released.

While I know that scanlations are going at an agonizing pace, I noticed a while ago that the Lucky Star girls graduated high school in the Japanese manga. I heard that the story has continued even after that.

I really want to know what's going on. I can't read Japanese of course, so I'm completely in the dark. Does anyone out there know any details about the current Lucky Star manga? I want to know where the strips would go once high school is over.

Well, I guess that's why it's called Lucky Star. They're all uber lucky to be graduating together! (i.e. Tsukasa too!)

Well, there's still summer school... (2 volumes worth?)

I don't recall anyone graduating in the five volumes released so far though it was getting closer. Is this something that happened afterwards?

Been a while since I've read them (makes a note to correct that).

All I have to go on is a single scan, rumors, and new Japanese graduation-themed fanart. Here's the scan:

Spoiler for Picture:

Japanese schoolyear ends in April, so there is no summer school now. In fact, I don't know if they get a break between high school graduation and college. Does anyone know?

Exclamation Bandai has licensed Lucky Star Manga!!

From Anime News Network:
Quote:
The North American anime and manga distributor Bandai Entertainment has announced at its Comic-Con International panel today it licensed Lucky Star, Kagami Yoshimizu's four-panel manga that inspired the slice-of-life comedy anime of the same name.
[insert Final Fantasy battle victory theme here]

Outstanding. I'm always impressed when something besides testosterone, blood and gore gets licensed.

Wow, so this means that I'll have all of the Lucky Star manga translated in english in addition to owning all six of the original untranslated versions. Man, my wallet's gonna starve once I'm through with these.

(Oh, and you might want to update the thread description. Six volumes.)

Wait... did I just revive this topic?

Of course there is, it's Lucky Star, what do you expect? And yes, that is Yamato, though I have no idea why she's there.
Here's something interesting:
I noticed that Yoshimizu's style has changed a little bit; it's a subtle difference, barely noticeable, but I feel it's a big improvement art-wise improvement. Either that, or I'm just going crazy. Here, judge for youself.

(Not the best example, pulled from net because my scanner fails at life)
Spoiler for better example:

Of course his style changed. I would be shocked to find any long-running manga that didn't have a noticable style change from beginning to end. Usually I like the way it evolves.

Yoshimizu-sensei's style seems to have gained more and more resemblance to the anime's style, hasn't it? I wonder if he conformed for them, or if the anime started after his style began to shift to this rounder, more chibi-ish look.

It's a nice change from the style he left us with volume 5 (not that it was bad, I just love this one so much more).

Actually... his style seems to morph a bit depending on what the original 4-koma was published in as well. If you browse through volume 6, for example, you'll see style changes from chapter to chapter depending on what magazine the original may have been published in.

Oh, I know that. I'm mainly referring to his non-magazine artwork, if you know what I mean. Mainly the stuff that's not 4-koma, like cover-artwork and stand-alone images. The best example I could find is the one I posted in a spoiler tag above.

Sorry, I know the difference is there, it's just hard to explain what it is...

Aye, I see.... yeah there's been evolution of a sort...nowhere near as dramatic as many American cartoon artists I've followed though. Mostly just craft improvement.

I really would like to see him try a chapter with "realistic" style... I think that'd be a lot of fun -- like some sort of phony eroge game skit in Konata's mind.

As long as he maintains the illusion with full-color CG'd pages.
