The ship shield defense was operated by a few girls which used trackballike interfaces to shild parts of the ship.

Sooo how does this fit into the Macross univers and current show or doesn't it fit at all, what was the story back then, how did it end, what did happen after that.
What did happen before this current show and who the **** are those aliens.

A little history lesson would be fine , thanks and bye.
Robotech: the First Generation is a localized American "adaptation" by Harmony Gold of the original SDF Macross anime TV series. Remixing a show completely for a local audience was apparently common back in the day, which is thankfully now a lost art. (I can just see it "Robotech Frontier - The Young Lancer Chronicles"
).

Robotech itself is a localized anthology of three different unrelated anime shows, namely.

First Generation = The Super Dimensional Fortress Macross
Southern Cross = The Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross
New Generation = Genesis Climber MOSPEADA

The adaption renamed the characters and significantly changed the plot through dubbing made up dialogue to force a sort of continuity between the three series. Of these, New Generation is the least affected by the changes (although the message of the show is subverted), followed by First Generation, with Southern Cross being butchered badly.

Macross shares no continuity with the Robotech line due to major changes made to the backstory of the series (not even the prequel Macross Zero), although the story plays out mostly the same.

Unfortunately there is bad blood between the creators of Macross and Harmony Gold because of a lawsuit over distribution and merchandising rights some time back in the US.

I have a couple of questions but before that i have some things to say. I'm long time Macross fan and have just started watching Macross frontier( i know don't shoot me just been busy). I've gotten thru the first 14 episodes and i say damn i feel like a kid again watching SDF macross way back when. This series is great imo better than 7 for me at this point. The sound track is awesome and the animation reminds me of a the Orignal movie and is on average OVA quality.

1. Any news on megaroad 1. or did i miss something somewhere?

2. I thought VF-19 was the main fighter what gives with nightmares?

3. Wouldn't it be cool if they could introduce the marduk somehow?

4. Someone explain the fold faults better?

Nope. They've sailed off into the proverbial sunset, and we may never know what became of them.

The real reason is the director didn't want to overshadow the new VF-25 with the VF-19's awesomeness. The plot reason could be anything from the VF-19 is too expensive/too difficult to handle/too powerful to hand out to frontier fleets in case they rebel. or President Glass simply wants to promote local industry.

Not really. Macross II is a pretty uninspired rehash of DYRL. The mech designs are OK, though. It's also sort of the bastard child of Macross and not really accepted into Macross continuity.

Normally inpenetrable distortions in super dimensional space that have to be navigated around during fold, causing significant time difference to pass when defolding to real space. Vajra technology can ignore and pass right through fault faults, as can LAI's experimental fold reactors.

Ok i get it now VF-25 must be a attempt to pay homage to SDF VF-1.

Really I thought it was set in like 2090 + they said somewhere in the movie 80 year from the frist one year war of something. Metal Siren was hot though.

Totally off topic, but every time I see your avatar I have the irresistible urge to say 'kuma'. It's horribly addictive, kuma.

Haha I know what you mean-kuma
Hmm but maybe, after all we are here in the Macross thread, we should say -meow or -niang instead of -kuma-kuma ?

Why didnt Klan Klein just use VF fighters like other and have to be macronised when going out for sortie.

I've explained why she have 2 forms, but I dont know how to answer this

Only thing i can think of is personal preference.
It's all different mecha. and diferent purposes. In the beginning it was said the pixies did all the recon missions.
