A lot of the ocean is just gone - where to we shall probably never know, but there are precedents in fiction for the Earth to be plundered for its water.

Regarding the map, Rio says that it only included places you could get to on foot, but given that America is on there, the ancient land bridge from what is now Russia to Alaska must be open again. There's also land to the west of south America. So, by looking at a bathymetric map, that means sea levels have dropped at least 2,000 metres / 6,500 feet. The surface area of the oceans would be very much reduced if that were the case, with catastrophic effects on the global water cycle. That would lead to the collapse of whole ecosystems and to desertification on a massive scale, which would in turn cause even more disruption to the water cycle.

It all seems horribly consistent, and indeed leads to conclusion that there is no long-term hope for humanity. "Cute girls doing cute things", indeed

I've never cared much for that storyline. There are plenty of other places just in our solar system where you can get water without having to wrestle against a gravity well the size of Earth's. Saturn's moon Enceladus is literally spraying the stuff into space, and there are an uncountable number of comets wandering around the Oort Cloud.

Perhaps the ocean water is trapped in the polar ice caps, and Japan is one of the few places that's still warm enough for people to live.

Episode 13 was overall a wonderful reminder of why I loved this series.
I always think the show had more potential than it achieved, and had they made it a two cour show, they could have done a lot more with the setting and its history.
That said, if despite the apparent demise of the 'Anime no Chikara' franchise, they were to make a second series with Rio & co searching for 'the land with oceans reborn, and new life springing from it' I'd certainly want to watch that.

Isn't this what supposedly went down in the Late Permian? Like, raising of the world's temperature, desertification and stuff?

Forgive me for going off-topic, but to be honest Anime no Chikara ISN'T dead just yet. They're just taking a break for a bit. In fact, a friend of mine here says that a new Anime no Chikara project has been revealed, albeit briefly.

Until official sources concur that's just FUD. Especially when the source in from April saying that the 4th series is supposed to start next week, since that hasn't happened it was obviously fake.

Saying things are on hold is just a way to save face.

I wish that this would get released on BD here, but I guess I'll be happy with whatever we get.
13 was a great denoument to the series though.

Go read the Speculah Charts they are both informative and fun.

Nonetheless all other evidence points to Helvetia was Switzerland. Rome are German-Romanians that decided to revive the Holy Roman Empire in Europe.
Judging from the map we were both a little off on the location of Helvetia and Rome.

Hm... I feel strangely displeased that the second drama cd has not been put up any where for download. I am starting to suspect that it won't get translated by the DVD company and so I want to translate it.

I was just wondering - did the PSP game ever come out? I tried checking around but I can't find it for purchase.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think this?

I hope the Drama bits are included with the DVDs here, but that just seems like a super niche thing.

This... This is why I suspect that won't put it the drama cd in.

I honestly believe only hard core fans and aficionados would go to the trouble of popping in a cd/dvd, listen, read it as it's being played and genuinely enjoy it. The average fan would be 'nice but I don't quite get what the fuss is about' and the fact there are no visuals to go along with it for them.

But it's being released by Nozomi. And they already included the dramas for Aria.

I think picture dramas are a bit different than drama cds though, or otherwise they'd consider bringing over the many Aria drama cds that are out there.
