As far as I'm concerned, it's canon. Every other route got two endings, so why not Fate? Call them Fate True and Fate Good.

I'd like to consider it canon, because to me that was by far the best piece of romance throughout the entire game.

Yeah, my personal interpretation is that it is probably a dream, or something similar, because it just doesn't make any sense.

I don't think it is a dream, I can believe that it happened. I just don't accept it because I think it's done fore fanfare.

I may be wrong but...

1. Yes
2. She's very very sneaky, aka possible plot hole.
3. No.
4. No.

Does anyone have any insight out of F/SN? Maybe HA gave us some more answers or something.

I'm sure Sakura must've known. If she didn't then what was all that about Sakura wanting to know what Shirou was dreaming of?

She may have known. Would be an interesting twist but I highly doubt she did. She didn't like Shirou being close to any other girl.

She seemed to have some indication, because like Haak said, she did ask Shirou what he dreamed about.

Of course, I guess she might have just heard him moaning in his sleep and recognized he was having a sex dream without realizing who was responsible...

Actually, I think it's implied that Sakura does know what Rider has done. I doubt she pre-approved it, though....

You... you really had to ask why someone wouldn't want to have sex with Shinji?!

Okay, here's two reasons right here:

1) Shirou has more mana.

2) Shinji is Shinji.

You gotta feel bad for Shirou thinking it was a dream...he'd probably curse himself for not waking up if he learned the truth, I sure would.

Most normal men would indeed be quite disappointed to learn they'd slept through an erotic encounter with Rider, a.k.a. 'Sex Personified'. Shirou is so shy he'd probably have a heart attack if he knew the truth, though

... Again with this? It makes sense if you think about it. Avalon is where the Lady of the Lake lives. The Lady of the Lake is an Elemental, and so Avalon is her domain. Humans can enter the domain of Elementals by accident, so what happened is probably something like after the events of Fate,Saber is about to die, but Merlin. who going by what happened to him in the legends could be said to be in Avalon too, dragged her there so she wouldn't die, and made arrangements for Shirou to be able to get in, 1500 years later.

I don't really know much about the Nasuverse and how the magic works but how exactly does 'True Magic' work? The Type Moon wiki describes it as a 'miracle' and says something about "the ability to make possible something that is impossible to realize", which is exactly what Saber and Merlin said had to happen in order for Shirou to enter Avalon.

So I just figured it was actual magic. Is that right or wrong?

Hm, it can be quite possible. This is Merlin, the top Deus est Machina kind of mage in about every fiction that mentions him. Good point.

About the True Magic: the real magic is something that can't be explained by the modern theories of magecraft. They are powers that should be impossible by their current knowledge. For example real instantaneous teleportation, resurrection of the dead, traveling in time, reaching alternate dimensions, breaking the laws of energy conversation etc...

The True Magic is a miracle since it doesn't follow the regular laws of magecraft. Also each True Magic has strong connection with Akasha, the origin. Since the Grail is an incomplete Heavens Feel it can do things akin to a miracle and may even grant wishes. The wishgranting is closely related to reaching Akasha and thus using god-like power.

I hope that was satisfying enough.

Yeah, I'm just going to go ahead and believe A Wizard Did It, then. True both figuratively and possibly literally.
