I went in with an open mind. Yeah, my lightnovel side said that they cut a lot off (in particular the friendship between Godou and Vethprega), but at the same time it was entertaining and had a nice exposition, which is ultimately the point of any anime. As such, I can see how this episode might be very attractive to the non-lightnovel readers and simultaneously piss off the novel readers.

However, the bottom line is that it's a nice first episode. And for the casual watcher, the action and adventure alone will probably entice them back. For me, if I put aside my reader side, I would consider the pilot episode well done and I'll definitely wait for the next episode.

Although it differs a lot from the Light Novel, nevertheless it looks pretty good. Though they already ruin a bit of Erica's character in the first episode mid way.

Well its bad news, because majority of the people who want to watch the anime are the Light Novel fans. I myself include love the Light Novel and wanted the anime to follow the same order, scenario, and well pretty much everything in the Novel. Sadly, the first episode just skipped a lot of the volume which was volume 3 and made the episode more like a summary of it. They also changed a lot of things of original events, such as when Erica woke up drunk and punch Godou, it was suppose to be a sword on his artery in his neck. Also this is a small detail, Erica was drinking Nepente Di Oliena (15 dollar wine, or low class wine) which clashes with her glamorous and outgoing for the best self.

Having not read the light novels first, and while deliberately forgetting the discussion I had seen you guys do firsthand in order to enjoy the anime in a "blank slate" state of mind... I must say, I'm quite confused regarding Erica's character

I think I'll attempt finish watching it for the time being...

... Okay, I think I might need to wait for the actual first episode. The pre-air made me turn it into a 10-second skip-forward fest (much like what I've been doing with a lot of other series...)

So, the series is officially out on July 7th?

I'll wait for the release.

I hope to see the differences between the premiere and the real streaming if there are.

Yeah. Basically, ignore the lightnovel and view the anime as a stand-alone. If you do so, I think people (in particular the novel readers) will like the anime a lot more. From what I'm been hearing, non-novel viewers have enjoyed the 1st episode thus far.

Just saw it myself.

A bit of a disappointment because of the rushing. Anybody who doesn't follow the novel will be shaking their heads in confusion at several spots.

As for the pluses, character design and voice acting seemed very good. The animation was rather good as well.

I just hope they slow it down when we get to the main story, and I can't believe im saying that. Usually you get upset with the filler on these kinds of series, and instead we were treated to a chopped down summary for the most part.

It was an entertaining start to this series. However, it does feel cheesy at times, and clunky at others. I think that is the fault of the production staff. It seems to have a good premise, but they "dumbed' it down for some reason.

Well, I'm hoping things will get better as far as production goes.

who freakin cares if it was episode 1. Did you know, a lot of people who read volume 1 found it confusing as hell since it just threw you right in the freaking middle of the series. The translator on Baka even stated that they're skipping volume 3 which was condensed in this episode which details how Gudou received his Campione powers. The way I see it, views should be happy they started the way they did so we won't feel completely lost when they just throw character upon characters at us without us understanding where the hell the came from.
IMHO great pre-air episode, sets us up for the series

I assume you could tell that I meant volume 1 was confusing for about half the volume and it would have been where the anime would have started off with in Episode 1 if they kept the order the LN followed. Instead they chose to use a summary of volume 3 instead and condensed it into Episode 1 which I applauded for since it gave the viewers knowledge needed to be not lost once they jump ahead to where Volume 1 begins. Ex. introducing Erica and Athena and we're supposed to understand how Gudou got his powers from without seeing it, hence putting the readers in the middle of the story

That's a pretty interestiing episode. Maybe I'll read the novels later if it's translated after the whole series ends...

Of course, that would effectively leave out Ena who has been shown in the trailers.

This will be a tragedy in the making from the point where I saw Ena in the anime list of cast I know it will be bad -_- so I will just shut my brains off and forget the novel exist so I can just enjoy the anime which is episode 1 was already sub.

Yes, i know what u mean...i also mean i don't find v1 confusing.
As the authur said "it does not have to be start of the story".

Yes i also understant ur applauding and ur reasoning..its just my reader said can't accept the summarising moreover they change it too much...
Unless they change it there won;t be any fight in V3 for half of the story..it could easily take 3episodes

So i'd rather start from V1 to see it this way...this is just my personal wish.....
I'd even dream of seeing a movie for V3 and V11 while the series is the rest of volumes may be up to 7?
now it seem my wishes are too much....
