Bones? That would be fantastic! They may have their issues when it comes to original stories but when it comes to mecha animation they are still fantastic (and the script is in good hands. My motto is still: in Gatou Shouji we trust. )

I can barely understand those comments. Bones would be a great pick indeed. But i doubt they would continue another studios franchise. Also they seem to be a bit out of range for FMP. And I'm rather sure they would do a complete reboot, not a continuation of TSR. To me Sunrise seems to be the more likely pick of the two. But i more so believe that a new/young studio is gonna pick up FMP, much like Fumoffu was the very first TV series of Kyoto animations.

Imho if it was either Bones or Sunrise, two well respected studios, they would have announced it already.

You say it like it's a bad thing.
There's a ton of content to include in a reboot.
Anyway, the rumor turned out to be false.

Aw. That's disappointing. I was really looking forward to seeing this. I remember watching FMP on funimation and ended up watching the whole thing on anime44 before they changed the name.

Well, it's that time again to get hyped up (probably for no good reason):

Full Metal Panic! Teases "Important Announcement" With Voice Cast

Quote:
The schedule for Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2016 (Fantasia Bunko Big Thanksgiving 2016), an October 22 event for Fujimi Shobo's Fantasia Bunko imprint, teases an "important announcement" for the event's Full Metal Panic! Special Stage session. The schedule for the event's main stage lists voice actor Tomokazu Seki (Sōsuke Sagara), voice actress Satsuki Yukino (Kaname Chidori), voice actress Yukana (Teletha "Tessa" Testarossa), producer [Atsushi] Itou, original novel author Shoji Gatoh, and others as guests. The event's website adds that the Special Stage session is a "must-see for Full Metal Panic! fans."

Last year's Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai event announced that plans for a new anime adaptation of the Full Metal Panic! light novel series were underway.

Anyone wondering if Gatoh's joke about hoping the new season will air before the Tokyo Olympics might not have been such a joke?

(I actually doubt it will be delayed that long, but still...)

At the time of this post, we will know very soon (half an hour). I hope it's just an overblown joke that wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Please Gatou-san, us FMP fans have suffered enough...

I'm hoping for a visual poster/teaser trailer. Surely something could have been composed by now. What I do expect is a series name at least. Here's to hoping!

There will be audio drama (don't know when it will be release) and TV anime (Full Metal Panic! IV) next fall. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...l-2017/.107970

^ It's CG, but not 3DCG.
Anyway, they said last year that the mecha will be animated in 2D.
I'm not sure if that point shall remain.

Xebec is fairly good with their mecha CG as seen in Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

XEBEC isn't just "fairly good" with mecha lol. For older ones there's Nadesico, and recently Fafner EXODUS is more than stable, so I'm not worried at all.

Another thing mentioned at the event is a "Full Metal Panic! BONUS Ops" (working title) light novel. Written by Gatoh, illustrated by Shikidouji. I presume it's going to be a single novel, but one story not a shorts collection, post-main series, with the main cast (not the sequel, and hopefully not just Tessa and Mao like the only post-series short there is atm)

I dream of canon Soukana babies lol

Xebec is a very good choice. I can say I'm pleased. It would only be better if they also got KyoAni to do another Fumoffu

Yep, but with where the story is going from where it was left, there is not much material to make another fumoffu
