I thought this episode was hysterical, especially the Zelda parody, the Neuromancer reference (particularly considering who it came from), and I have to agree with Shiroth - anytime Zazie speaks it's a plus. I also have to admit I find the Chizu-nee/Natsumi dynamic absolutely hysterical. Though it is a little weird that they seem to have randomly rearranged everyone's living arrangements, at least when they did it they kept an eye out for what should be some interesting dynamics.

The genius part about is that before this series ever started, you could see that style of relationship between the two - and all Shinbo has done is brought it out into the light in great fashion. :3

Huff puff..I was able to catch up with the subs I got myself a Negima marathon a while ago Anyway, I like this episode which is all about Sayo It's quite amusing to look at that Legend of Zelda like scenes and when Sayo starts "haunting" the whole dorm rooms

Darn, original Negima licensed, so much for that idea. I've not read the manga or seen the original anime (besides the first ep-- ^^;; ). This "episode 19" covers the ghost's backstory instead of the way Negima!? handled it?

Yep. Unlike the SHAFT episode and Sayo's first "starring" story in the manga, which were more humor-focused, the Xebec version of Sayo's story actually focuses on (the Xebec version of) her back story.

The season one ep 19 version of Sayo's backstory is just very poetic and sad. I thought of it as one case where the anime scored leaps over the manga version. The Shinbou version we're watching now is closer to the original manga story (some differences but the chaos and mild humor is replicated).
I still hold a bit of hope for the Shinbou version because they really didn't end her story: she can't remember why she's there. That corresponds to the earlier part of episode 19 when Sayo can't remember why she's there. *Maybe* Sayo will get a followup illumination ... but probably not.
