Besides, they'd have to spread that rep around sooner or later. If all they did was rep the same people they'd hit a wall pretty quick.

I wasn't talking about the giving of cookies to the winner but to the giving of cookie to thoses than vote than is making unnneasy, both as a concurent and as a voter, even thought the impact of the cookie are only on the reputation.

First of all I doubt anyone who +reps for votes does that with the motivation of influencing future votes, rather than showing their appreciation for the people who voted for them. Secondly I doubt that really has any effect on voting and if it does there's really no way to control how and why people vote for the entries they do. Discussion about voting here touches the subject fairly closely. Summing up... This is just a monthly signature contest. If these things become real concerns, things are being taken way too seriously. |

escimo pretty much cleared things up.
I only +rep someone who voted for me as a sign of appreciation. I'm not expecting or asking a return rep either. I have no intention whatsoever of influencing someone to vote for my future entries.

Did I just witness one of the tightest poll in memory? It was very difficult to just to pick 3 selection. Congratulation to Ice Climbers!
P.S. In reference to Ganbaru's concern, I guess one way to still rep without making the voter's uncomfortable would be to remain anonymous, as in, don't sign your name along with the rep-comments. While most of us won't think twice about getting positive reps, Ganbaru still makes a valid point in regards to awarding positive reps in threads like these.

Well, in that case, it's more of a personal outlook than anything else. Morality is very subjective after all, so I won't get into it.
Anyway, won't derail this thread with this particular topic any further.
