The latest entry in the “my little sister” genre, Recently, My Sister is Unusual is based on an original manga written and illustrated by Mari Matsuzawa. As usual, the story features a younger sister named Mitsuki Kanzaki who goes to live with her step-brother Yuya Kanzaki after her mother remarries.

You can practically hear the person writing that description muttering, "I can't believe we bought this shit."

Me too, but I've been surprised by a few shows over the last year or two. I'm happy to give it a fair shake, though I still have my doubts.

Well, this is clearly a very ecchi show, perhaps similar to KissxSis. Crunchyroll may say bad things about it to make us believe they won't enjoy it ("No, not me!"), but they are still going to show it. Personally I didn't object to the ecchiness of KissxSis, just to the fact that it doesn't have anything else besides that going for it. Maybe this show will be a bit richer -- or maybe not.

I'm starting to make character/seiyuu pages for the new shows, and since this is one of the first to be broadcast (on Saturday) and has a small cast of main characters, this is one of the first shows I've done. Ogura Yui is now 18, but she was barely 15 when she and Ishihara Kaori (now 20) began their career as YuiKaori with theme music for KissxSis. Now Yui is actually playing an ecchi character in a similarly ecchi show (she's the nightie-clad ghost who wants the heroine to make love with her brother). As a couple of recent examples in the US demonstrate, growing up in show business can be fairly weird.

At first, I didn't think much of Ogura-san's seiyuu voice. But she has done decent work in recent roles, such as Tsukiko in Henneko. Her radio show with Ishihara Kaori is live on video every week. They are professional but informal, and are more or less impossibly cute when they get going.

The leading lady of ImoCho (as this show is abbreviated) is Hashimoto Chinami. This is her debut role. The male lead is played by Majima Junji (Ryuuji in Torodora). And the elder brother's childhood friend is played by Kanemoto Hisako (Kotoura-san). Hashimoto and Kanemoto do the radio show.

I need to wait for the BD release or the AT-X one if it ever airs there. Censoring is creative though. What in the world is Tokyo MX thinking airing such erotic show on a 10pm saturday night when kids are watching....

The first few scenes were promising.
The sister reminds me of someone.
Some female character from another anime.
Can't quite put my finger on it.
I know! A crossbreed of Akatsuki from Log Horizon & Chitanda from Hyouka.
That girl is in such a weird situation that I'm practically speechless.

Blimey, first episode in and we've already received a seasons worth of ecchi XD This show transitioned itself from a slice of life to an ecchi so smoothly I thought this would be the type of "Perverted boy gains a younger sister" kind of thing, instead we have a responsible, mature male character, a quiet female character who's being held hostage in a way by a female ghost XD

As someone who doesn't mind ecchi, the scenes in this episode even overwhelmed me, they just went straight in with the heavy stuff XD And the thing is, I can't see them dying it down in any future episodes

The first episode itself is a bit of mix between being better or worse than expected. To start, the older brother is actually pretty great and provide a lot of care for his little sister, he's a refreshing breath of air compared to other older brother characters. The little sister Mitsuki is really cute when she's flustered and is in the midst of misunderstandings caused by the mysterious spirit. Her chastity belt is designed nicely but it's a shame it gets censored, but that's not the only reason why it's unlikely for me to continue watching this anime. The character designs are a complete disgrace to the source material, they look like A-1 Pictures' rejected drafts with round appearance and lot of lighting blobs across their hair, except it's done worse. I also don't like how they designed the female characters' legs very much, they should have made them slender in a way that's appealing, which the studio failed to accomplish. It also doesn't help that the animation itself is bland and the theme songs features some of the most unoriginal animated sequences I've ever seen.
As for the other aspects (the music is generic but well-designed, the background design are good and I love the voice acting, I don't know much the rest though), well it's kinda expected it will follow the exact same trend as every other pseudo-incest series, only major difference is the way they will portray the siblings' relation. The fanservice level, while looking extreme, is actually played straight and it's not turning like some sort of trouble I expected out to be, censorship aside. I'll probably give the show a few more episodes, but I don't know if I will survive it with all my problems I've listed before.

The story will revolve around the friendship and coming-of-age of two boys. It begins with Aoba Watase, a boy who goes to high school in Tokyo and lives a carefree daily life. On the morning of his school's opening ceremony after summer vacation, he goes to campus as usual, but he has a chance encounter with another boy
