Hell, I WANT it to suck me in... I want it to make me cry! I want to to grab my gut and twist it. I've heard so much about the series, I'm looking forward to the mystery so much. I mean, another Key game, Planetarian had me all chocked up at the end and that was basically a short story vs something like Kanon...


I'm somewhat rambling, anyways, yeah Kanon definately seems to have comedic bits but I can already tell thats not what the story's focus is.

I didn't see that mentioned in the game, but that was what I thought as well. There are not a lot of illness that you can go from all fine to dead in 5 minutes. Any illness that will kill her must be sudden, like a brain hemorrhage (actually you won't die that fast but...) or a heart attack- it won't the slow and painful death that Mai's mother endured.

But the illness must be related to her organs, because Akiko noticed there is something wrong with Shiori's health the second Akiko met her. I think that it may be a leukemia or lymphoma or cardiac in origin. She's pale (anemic) but she's otherwise pretty normal appearing. Maybe she has something like this one or it could be a variant of a terminal pediatric condition in Japan. Apparently, pediatric cancer survivors are prone to suicide. But, no one can say exactly when you're going to die. To act like at 12 midnight and 0 seconds you will expire is not thinking rationally. But, you could say that at this point Shiori is not thinking or acting rationally.

Planetarian was really bad in that regards. Kanon is a walk in the park on a sunny day compared to Planetarian imo. After all that trouble....

The best way I can describe Ayu is that she's the manifestation of a wish generated by Ayu who hopes that Yuuichi will *remember* what happened. I hate to say more because it'll really spoil the surprise for new viewers.

Well... Shiori can be suffering from Atrial Fibrillation (dizzyness and faintness), Atrial Clutter (chest pain, chest discomfort)... due to Congestive Heart Failure? I am not a doctor so can't really comment on this. She does not exhibit swelling though. I lean towards cardiac problems personally.

As for Ayu, wait and see. That's all I can say.

Actually, you're not right if the anime follows the path of the original series (true ending). Just look at the prologue of ep. 2 for clues and combine it with the tour and monlogue in ep. 1 if you want to be spoiled. It's not as obvious as it was in the first series. That's why I didn't bring it up. It will all be explained in ep. 24...
