Kiritsugu sure got a nice gift from his wife Iri/the vessel.
Avalon... a tool for revenge or means to end this war. It was still sad watching Kiritsugu with his emotionless face. That guy sure had a lot of tragedy in his life, even too much..

And we have some fanservice in this episode with naked Kariya. But really, that Zouken is really evil. Forcing Kariya to eat the worm that feeds on Sakura's virginity?! That's really wicked and evil on different levels, Kariya's screams really broke my heart. About the Rider, I already know vague spoilers, but it still surprises me that Rider appears to kidnap Iri. Can't wait for next episode. |

2. Rider is/was one of the best general of his time period. This is good tactics, nothing more nothing less.

And uhm, as far as we know the only one who knows the location of Kiritsugu's team is Kirie, so yeah we'll have to wait and see what's going on here. |

Before the last 5 minutes of this episode I was going to say that it had a lot of unnecessary dialogue between Maiya and Iri. But as it turns out very few things in Fate Zero are unnecessary. Though I have to say I didn't think Rider would kill Maiya. That was a surprise - or perhaps he was counting on Saber to heal her.
The misery just piles on Kiritsugu - one tragedy after another(except for the nine year break in between). I think Shakespeare would have fallen in love with this guy. And that old fugly bastard - Zouken - is disgusting on so many levels. It takes quite an effort on my part to not hit the screen when he appears. One question - Why is Sakura's virginity involved in extracting her life force? - Or have I got it wrong?

The more I watch Fate/Zero, the more I realize that it's one of those series that is better to watch all at once than weekly. A bunch of the episodes individually are really slow, but when you put them together, the series really shines.

well, my point was that Rider was never been portrayed as a ruthless character. If you think about his previous acts he's the least likely person you would think to kill someone. That scene is just so out of character

Like others said this episode was like the continuation of the flashbacks.
Much exposition, conversation and character development. Spoiler for the current episode and a bit more:
Well, you can always do that in PMs, on demand. Or in the QnA thread if you follow the usual rules. But man, at this stage posting spoilers may ruin everything to casual watchers. I mean really-really. IMO, the second half of the final volume was the best part of the entire Fate/Zero Light Novel. The part we're at right now. Last edited by willyvereb; 2012-05-19 at 14:42. |
