Recent Anime
Hello!
I'm hoping you guys could provide some recent "standing out" quality anime from the beginning of 2011 up until now. I don't mind a gargantuan lengthy list . I have trouble finding and sorting anime so throwing a lot out there would be much appreciate. Thanks! |

Looking at which anime got their own sub forum will give you an idea of their popularity (which often means the most obvious recommendations). Also, since you didn't give a genre (just "stand outs"), I'm just going with "anything goes", so for me:
- Puelli Magi Madoka Magica - Fractale (very unpopular choice, but I loved it therefor recommend it hehe) - Hourou Musuko - Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai And still airing: - Steins;gate - Mawaru Penguindrum - Usagi Drop And while most people won't call these stand outs, I personally find them amazing so far: - Kamisama Dolls - No. 6 Also, sequels: - Natsume Yuujinchou San - Baka to Test Ni (not sure to what level a comedy can be a stand out, but this one, Mitsudomoe and Working!! (and Penguindrum) have had more laughs from me than anything since FMP! Fumoffu, so they stand out for me) |

I'll second
Puelli Magi Madoka Magica Hourou Musuko Steins;gate Mawaru Penguindrum Usagi Drop Sequel: The World God Only Knows II, was overall even better than the first season for an interesting take on romance, and comedy I'd suggest it .

I second Gosick and Madoka. For the current ones, I recommend Ikoku Meiro no Croisee and Mayo Chiki! Also, I'd add Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi if you want some romance/slice in life.

Maybe you could give us an idea of what you generally like?
For me, the standouts so far are AnoHana, Hourou Musuko, Ikoku Meiro no Croisee, Level E, Steins;Gate, Tiger & Bunny and Natsume Yuujinchou San.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm trying out Steins;gate right now. As for a general idea of what I enjoy, I really enjoyed Tiger & Bunny as of late. Level E and Ano Hana were pretty awesome as well. I can't recall what I've seen as I have poor memory but I also enjoy shows like ao no exorcist.

I'll vote for Puella Magi Madoka Magica (it's spelled correctly this time). This is a must-watch anime with a strong focus on story, a strong cast, and good action sequences.
I second Ronny's choice for Kamisama Dolls. While it isn't stellar like Madoka Magica, this anime has intense action and thrills along with nice animation to go along. And the story keeps you hooked with its mysteries and character rivalries. Kamisama Dolls is good with style. |
