It is only in the manga, but this element was to make up with the skipped airport scene.
I hope the anime watchers will take note of this element: it is very important to have an idea what Eva could do before being killed.

Cons:
-I'm a bit disappointed that they watered down the impact of Natsuhi bringing in a gun to the parlor, by showing a shameless plug (again). If that scene started with her entering and everyone reacting to her having the gun then I think it would have been much better :/ Was there any real purpose of showing Maria watching Higurashi other than shameless plugging? Seriously.
-The scene with Battler and Eva talking was good, but weirdly placed. Originally they were talking in the parlor but suddenly they're going down the stairs while everyone just shuffles around the main lobby (where the Beatrice portrait is) Every now and then you would see some of the characters just walking somewhere or just standing one place not doing anything.

Agreed about the gun part... what is with all the Higu plugging?
I think they moved the scene because having people just standing/sitting talking about stuff with nothing going on is sort of visually boring? So having them on the stairs and watching people move around is more visually stimulating. It's a product of the medium - in the sound novel you don't need that kind of mindless movement because you're just staring at still images anyway

Other thoughts:
Yay for game music! I am not well versed enough in the names to know what played when, but I recognized tracks I liked! which made me happy <3
Much less ff>> feeling than the previous two episodes, but still sort of jumpy.
I loved the glass crash at Battler coming into the kitchen - very well timed!
I know Maria is supposed to be kind of creepy here, but why was she constantly in supercrazy!Maria mode the whole time? And she definitely looked kind of monkey-ish at one point.. too goofy XD
Ending the episode at finding the bodies was good, but wasn't punctuated as well as it could have been. It felt like "OMG DEAD BODIES.... isn't this creepy?... okay we're done now." I guess I felt like things lingered a little too much to let stuff soak in. Let people think about that kind of thing as the credits are rolling instead

Overall, this episode's better than the previous two in the pacing regard. Though, Maria's faces are more "insane" than "Creepy", and when Kumasawa laughs, her eyes don't move, just her mouth >_>

For sure this one was the best up until now.Pace went down a bit so most important scenes got in there.However, i didnt like the ending a bit.Maybe lacking 2 more Minutes to show Eva+Hideyoshi Scene more decent.Not just because it was a Cliffhanger but a Problem for those not knowing the game, this scene will leave many suspicious thoughts.I dont remeber anything much from Episode 1(VN) but i remember clearly that it was stated that Hideyoshi was facing up(watching maybe at his murder at the moment of death).Overall very good episode.

This was another well done episode, Maria's facial expressions are getting creepier each week.

The only odd thing I noticed was Shannon's tears were fresh when they showed her face but she was supposed to have died six hours prior.

Other than Maria's expressions being just a bit too crazy and the receipt scene leaving out a few (mostly minor) details from the VN, I think this episode turned out pretty well.

There might be some long-term consistency problems with the VN, but standing on its own, this episode was much better that the previous two.

Pros:
-Pacing was considerably better than the previous two episodes. Then again, it covered less chapters so I guess there was more time. Even so, it was more smoother than previous episodes.
-A good mix of rearranged game BGMs were included, along with some new trakcs.
-George's mourning of Shannon at the shed, while not nearly as heart wrenching as the game, was still very well done.
-Daisuke Ono (Battler), Miki Itou (Eva), Yasuko Hatori (Kumasawa), Emi Shinohara (Natsuhi) and Yui Horie (Maria) reigned supreme with their voice acting this episode. I was impressed at Horie and Itou especially.
-Dur hur hur Kinzo hiding under the bed and Natsuhi assaulting Kinzo with a candle stick XD I got a good chuckle out of that to be honest
-The conversation in the kitchen was good, save for a couple things.
-Eva and Battler's talk was well done.
-Nothing was horribly cut up.

Cons:
-FFFF NO NIGHTEYES IN THE NATSUHI GUN SCENE ;O;! -saddened-
-Maria overload was annoying. I'm sure that everyone that was annoyed at her 'Uu' will now be annoyed with her 'Kihihihi' |D But seriously, some scenes were just annoying. They didn't even talk about her personality disorder or something.
-Jessica's lung problem wasn't mentioned.

-The kitchen scene was good, as I said, but did they really need some of those special effects, along with Battler looking like L5 Keiichi half the time or something? Some of them, like closing up on the eyes of the servants ominously as they continued to say Beatrice is real was good, but after that it's like wtff. Also, Maria was annoying with her flashes in that scene.
-Natsuhi almost seems to just jump of Eva with the accusation. Originally Hideyoshi was also pitching in comments about it and when they continued to do so then she snapped.
-With the whole door thing near the ending, when Kanon left I was a little miffed because Genji stood behind. It's like the anime is trying to imply that Genji made that symbol, when he left with Kanon as well to tell everyone in the parlor.
- AND AM I STILL THE ONLY ONE MAD THAT BATTLER ISN'T EXPLAINING HIS FAMILY LIFE FFFFFF. Battler didn't even seem to mourn over the bodies anymore, he just moved on to anger. Meanwhile Jessica - who was the angered one, was just quietly saddened. Although comforting George was sweet.
-Did I NEED to see Hideyoshi naked in the tub :U (not much as a con as a gross out)

Overall: This was a considerably better episode in general. Not many elements were cut up and the ones left behind got decent representation, save for a few. I give this one an 8/10.

Alright, up until the ending I thought the pacing was done exceptionally well compared to the first two episodes. Not saying it was the best in the world but certainly an improvement.

But then why the F-ing hell did they have to ruin it all by forcefully inserting the second twilight scene was beyond me. Did they really had to do that? They practically destroyed everything at the end solely for the sake of showing something shocking to end the episode by and frankly it could have waited.

However, it was good to see that parts of the story have been left intact with the lesser details being left out. Unfortunately those lesser details are what makes the story so interesting to read and without them I simply couldn't feel a whole lot coming from this episode. It is as if you are reading a summary of the game. You know the plot but you don't know the feelings and complexities behind it. Take that away and it is hardly as enjoyable anymore.

That said it could be worse like the previous butchering of episodes beforehand so it was some sort of improvement for the story to not disintegrate into something worse.

Maria's faces and Battler randomly shitting bricks really gets on my nerves though. Not to mention the scene with Natsuhi pointing the gun at Eva...here it felt as if there was no tension at all which certainly wasn't the case for the game simply because you get attached to the characters during the process of reading about the "needless" bits that the anime decided to cut off.

I agree. Ending with either Kanon finding the envelope or Kumasawa and Kanon at the magic circle would have been fine for a shock I think. Then next episode they could go into the bodies and still have enough time to do go along with the plot, since the bodies are only seen for like 15 seconds at most.

I don't see what was so bad about putting the second twilight in there. They made it pretty clear what happened, and they didn't mess up the facts of the crime.

Plus, imagine if they did stick it in the next episode. Yeah, the scene is a big shock, but it's a short one. If they put that at the start of an episode, it's like waking up to water being thrown on your face and then being forced to sit there until it dries up.
They handled it so much better than the ending of EP1-2.

Actually a pretty good episode, much better than the last two. Cuts are minor and within reasonable limits. I actually quite enjoyed Maria's "crazy face"

Arah~, the pacing got better and the anime became a lot more interesting~
Then again, the anime has already gone passed the part where I stopped reading the manga, so anything from now on is completely new...

Maria... Very annoying brat and all, but her exaggerated facial distortions are so funny. Not scary. Wonder how bad her face will exaggerate by the time it ends.
She even became Mikami for a moment. SAKUJOU! SAKUJOU! SAKU-JOU!

Also had some fun with mishearings...
Did Natsuhi say "Wakarimasen" or "Wakarimasu?"? I heard "Wakarimasun"...
Jessica's "Kanan-kun"... --> "Conan-kun"... Hearing Conan in a mystery anime...

Hideyoshi-san... (´；ω；`) Poor guy... Not only that, but died by getting stabbed in the head by something... And to top it off, in the BATH! Writers, this is where you are supposed to put the female!
Eva? Ahh, that person. Hmm~ ( ´,_ゝ｀)

Couldn't feel that sad about Shannon's death though... Because the whole thing around her and George didn't really have time to develop and went by in a digest version.

Eheheh, I'm apparently alone, but I liked most of Maria's expressions in this episode. I just thought they were cool looking. Also, I swear one of her expressions used this episode was one that was in the manga. So that was pretty cool.

Um, besides that, Battler had some great "I AM A BADASS" facial expressions this episode. *swooons~*

Also, while I like the tune Nighteyes, in the anime, I don't think it would of really fit in that scene. It's a bit overpowering in THAT particular spot. (I can see it being used well later though.)

My only complaints for this episode is Maria's exaggerated expression during the magic circle scene. Maybe they also went a bit overboard in the kitchen, but I guess it's within my threshold. I'm surprised they didn't lengthen the magic circle explanation thing, because the episode would have reeked of Maria overload which is not exactly a good thing provided with what they did. Although it would'nt have hurt if the people other than Battler looked a bit more surprised with Maria's sudden change of behavior.

Jessica's character was toned down, with her wanting to kill the culprit herself and her lung problem not being explained. The people walking around the mansion was a nice touch, specially with the explanation that the culprit knows the keys that is in the servant's room. Eva's talk with Battler is also good. Are they eating mackerel?? XD Battler's kitchen scene was well done, although there were a bit of unnecesary effects, but I guess that shows how Battler was feeling that something is there. I'm a bit disappointed with his comeback though, it would've been nice if he laughed about the scorpion medal. Shirabe played in this scene and I loved it.

People looked normal with Natsuhi having a gun, and the Natsuhi-Eva scene was also toned down in punch. It's not badly done though. Pacing was improved, and it ended where most people predicted where it should (when will we get the full Golden Slaughterer bgm? ).

Highlights
- Good voice acting. Battler redeemed himself in this episode from the previous one.
- In-story theorizing.
- Kinzo hiding under the bed
- Shirabe, and Core BGM.
- Pacing was improved compared to the previous episodes.

I'm usually not too picky but the faces... they just annoyed me... and there's times when Maria's face isn't just creepy - it looks abnormal...

other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever <3 Loved the episode overall

but there was no nighteyes! D; how could they do this?
-Better pacing then the last 2 episodes, considering less chapter were covered.
-Maria's kihihihi and battlers it's useless are both good voice-acting! Eva had good voice as well ^^

-Maria and battler's overtly-exsagerated faces..battler cant take joke and maria gets a little too intense when she draws...^^;
-The ending could have been a little better...but mabe thats just me
