I don't think he'd attack while he is on an isolated island like that. Especially with Naruto and Yamato there. Unless he has an escape plan, it'd be tough. I guess he could swim, but lugging Bee would be a pain.

How is Kisame going to do anything? He has no body.

He has a body, it's just inside the sword at the moment. He just has to grow himself back out of it.

I don't think anyone else mentioned this, but this chapter marks the first time we've seen a tailed-beast speak outside of a host body.

i went back an reread...apparently the coffin didnt work...

this last chapter reminded me that all 4 of the non-living hokages are trapped in the demon seal...too bad this has no significance to the story...

They can always add an arc where naruto rescues them by going inside the deathgod himself

Somehow I don't see that happening. Pain already brought the dead back once. There's only so much you can abuse that plot device before death becomes completely meaningless.

The Shukaku spoke in the Gaara vs Naruto fight in part 1 when Gaara used a jutsu to put himself to sleep and let him speak. Well unless you still count that as technically still being in his body.

No this is not...a tailed beast talking isn't any different than a talking Manda or Gambunta...

except that people referred to the beasts as just that - beasts. it was said that when they don't have a host, they're all about instinct - they're not sentient, intelligent beings.

i am happy we get to move on with the story, but im left with a bad taste in my mouth for having to accept the Uzumaki clan as distant "blood" relatives to the senju.

i mean:
shouldnt they be related to the uchiha as well?
do they parallel the senju as branches from the younger rikudo brother?
or, dare i say there must have been a third rikudo sibling???

the uzumakis (mito) have been shown to self seal a tail beast much like the sage did so the relationship has to be close/extremely significant

I believe that it's sort of like the difference between the Hyuuga and the Uchiha - both have doujutus, but they're different.

The Senju have the ability to control beasts, while the Uzumaki have the ability to contain.

One of the Rikudou's kids had the eyes, the other the body. I believe both manifest themselves like this.
