Hmm ... I had always understood the reference to "a colorful past" (in the anime I have seen it translated as "you also have a lot going on") to refer to the difficulty she has with her father not supporting her mahjong play.

The Achiga girls are a somewhat related instance of this - that is, she was separated from a group of friends who shared the same love for the game as she did because of her parents' (specifically mother I believe) job transfers.

In many ways I think it is a sort of emphasis on mahjong, yes - but also on her friendship. Her father especially seems to be (and understandably from a certain perspective) concerned primarily for Nodoka's future and wish to provide for it through education. The mother seems to be rarely around.

But Nodoka, it seems to me, is ultimately a shy, quiet, bookish, exceedingly intelligent and intense girl who has interests that are not commonly shared by others her age (i.e. mahjong). Mahjong is important to her, of course, but so are people and friends who she feels she can be open and herself with.

Incidentally, I expanded the existing character list at that place to include the characters introduced in Achiga-hen, including pictures (I used anime images though, instead of the color images from the manga). I need help with descriptions though, particularly with Senriyama and Shindouji.

P.S. According to promotional art, Shizuno is supposedly wearing spats under that track jacket of hers. That's going to be hard to believe, given we've NEVER seen even a hint of it in the manga or anime, heh.

If not in manga, then I can't say... Because someone I talk to in another thread, says that it is because of quality... But since the manga is the name, I can't say why...

We do have some info on Senriyama though... But for Shindouji, no... There is too little info due to the lack of battles or relationships.(Episode 10 and still at Teru Time.) Have to wait till their backstory starts.

we've no seen anything about rinkai foreign team,they're suposed to have top player from all over the world,so perhaps one of them can be a challenge for teru.
they should be one of the four finalist team,with shiratodai and kiyosumi.
i guess the last place will be etheir for esui or senriyama.

2 from side A and 2 from side B will go into finals. Side A will confirm be Shiraitodai and one more...(Hint: Read Saki main line chapter 76, if i recall, Fujita said something....)

Side B has too many monster class so I have no idea...

Rinkai is one of seeded school like Shiratodai, Senriyama and Eisui. Kiyosumi will have to face them in semi-final.

Are you sure it is just chapter 9? Lets recall episode 10.

We have all the parts of chapter 9.

Toki fainted after using Innovator mode.(I will call her innovator Toki(Who inherits 00's Twin Drive system) from now on

. Just joking.)

Then thats where chapter 9 ends.

But we saw Toki waking up seeing Ryuuka's face and err you know what...(They added MORE to it

)

Which then after the flashback she went innovator mode and fight against Teru.

Thats where episode 10 ends.

So episode 10 covers all of chapter 9 and little parts of chapter 10.

Episode 11 may cover most of chapter 10 and all of chapter 11.

Nothing to spoiler here since the anime follows the manga, adding some good parts to it.. Even Kyuu got caught off guard.

how many round are left for saki to kick ass in her new awakened mode?
sor far,she only won with weak hand like 2000/4000,so i'd like her to show esui and himematsu how futile it is for them to try to reach the final.
if saki,after her match,could tell to the media she's teru imouto,it would be even better.

Well, Miyamori's captain has yet to show all of her abiltiies if we go by the 6 fortunes thing. At least I hope this doesn't become a one sided match, I want to see her opponents actually retaliating and Saki having to play smart rather than just relying on hax mahjong.

(Kiyosumi only being able to pass as 2nd place and needing a period of reflection would be icing on the cake.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if it was used for a plot device to unleash her potential and personal growth even more.

In some ways it seems that she is "turning Teru", and I kinda feel that part of the story's main thrust is that Saki's goodness wins over Teru and her mother. If that is so then she would need to be shown that by "turning Teru" in terms of inner disposition and ruthlessness she is defeating the main purpose of her desire to come to Tokyo ... not that there aren't other purposes, mind you - but I feel familial reconciliation (and especially with Teru) is the heaviest reason of them all.

She can unleash her potential without turning Teru, I think....

Perhaps even if she is not stomped in the game she will be shown outright scorn or even hatred by Teru at some point?

I'm expecting Nodoka and Saki to have a (temporary) falling out (as foreshadowed by the epilogue of the first season, which showed many things that showed up in the manga eventually). Maybe this will be the cause of it?

How will it be? Most of the monster class players are at Side-B

Only 1 Demon Class player and 1 Innovator Class Player are at Side-A
