Ah oh yes... Gundam AGE-1 is confirmed to be a PILOTED mecha, with the AGE Device acting as the startup key, similar to the G-Controller in Gundam X. And yes, why is Frit's voice so GAR for his appearance?

You've gotta register with the site. It's a little tricky if you can't read Katakana, but it's the basic form you'd expect from any website if I recall.

I'm warming up a little bit to this series. I don't think it's bad, but i think it might not be aimed at my tastes... sad, but ok. I still have Unicorn, and 00 was good enough to hold up some more...
The Models aren't all that hot, but i'm interested on what they will do with those... it seems to me they are aiming at a middle ground between HG and RG for these. Might be interesting. Specially with the whole "packs" system they got going on. Also.. any of you see the Gundam Age as something you have seen before somewhere? Cause, i brought this to mind for me |

... so it seems that if the final shot of the PV is to be believed, AGE-1 wasn't the first Gundam of the setting. Although I'm not sure the mecha in the wall painting at the end is supposed to be the RX-78-2 like what many are supposedly saying it is, but it looks close enough.
Overall, the actual tone and setting of the story don't really betray all the usual Gundam conventions at all. In fact, asides from the fact that the attackers are now unknown beings instead of Zakus or GINNs, what I've seen really is reminescent of Mobile Suit Gundam back in 79. It doesn't have that "kiddy" feel that many expect, and is more or less the same Gundam we know.

Not to mention its got all the formulas for a big-robot show. We got someone who looks like a mad-scientist, a young boy with a lot of fury (usually due to the result of losing a loved one... oh wait...), a robot (duh), some (oddly nostalgic) sidekicks, and what appeared to be a secret launching facility. Yet, if anything, the unknown's invasion of the colony in the PV reminds me of the first episode of Macross Frontier. Hell, the unknown themselves sport very similar weapon configurations to these guys, with automatic weaponry from their palms/claws and a larger gun on the back just in case they need a bigger boom! Strangely, now I really want to give it a shot... - Tak

Apparently a letter from one of the Staff Members for Gundam Age who is relieved at the official announcement. He also responds to all the anger over the leaked pictures around the internet
Please kindly see yourself back to the Mechatalk forums and chat with Chris about this. I'm sure you'll have a grand ol' time together and everybody will be happy. |
