Ssd

I am thinking of getting a SSD instead of a HD, but I don't know if it is worth it. If I install my OS and games on the SSD and some programs like sony vegas, will I notice the difference easily or not really? Right now I have my windows on a 500gb HD and programs and games on my 1TB HD. I don't know if its worth it because a SSD is like £90 pounds for 120gb when a 3TB HD is like £119

Also what should I look for in a SSD.

Thanks in advance

An SSD is probably the biggest upgrade you can buy for most activities. It makes stuff load faster and your computer just feel snappier.

Forget HDD, SSD is the way to go for pretty much anything!

I would prefer using the SSD drive for the operating system, applications and the swap file, while the regular hard drive be used only for data..

Don't go for OCZ... OCZ has a lot of failure...

The crucial m4 is really well priced.

Any SSD will give an enormous boost over an HDD.
You won't see the difference in performance between SSD most of the time.

OCZ has a pretty bad history of drive failures, which is why they're so cheap everywhere. Intel drives are reliable but they aren't the fastest any more. Back in the early days of the X25-M gen. 2 they were top dog, but now the SandForce controllers have them beat.

Crucial m4 is also very good.

I personally use a 120GB Intel 320 Series SSD and it's snappy and robust and rock-solid stable. I chose it mostly because it was on sale--otherwise I probably would have gone with a SandForce-based SSD.

Intel 520, Crucial M4 or Mushkin Chronos are the best bet for performance/reliability.

I've got the M4, and it's simply outstanding!

you came at the right time looking for an ssd because there is a price war atm. newegg had the 128gb crucial m4 for $99 yesterday (gone by now).

choose intel and crucial m4 for reliability.
never choose ocz.

I can't shop on newegg, I'm from england so shipping prices will be a bitch.
Ok so not OCZ, is this any good?

Most of my parts are corsair so I know they are reliable.

Get this instead. One of the most commonly used and well liked SSDs this generation. Not a lot of issues either since it doesn't use a Sandforce controller.

The Samsung 830 SSDs are very reliable and fast, but the cost to performance ratio on those drives aren't as good as the M4.
