Feels a little silly to be editing this repeatedly, but I don't want to double post, so...
Just saw the new ep. Not bad, but honestly nothing to write home about. Next week however....plot! Again! What the hell is this!?! Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but I can't think of any magical girl series which engaged in so much character building and plot development so early in its run.

Honestly, if it took too long to get to the character development and major plot points, I'd lose interest and stop watching partway through. So I'm glad that they're doing it early on as well. ^^;

When did I say I did? The only ones that I managed to get through were Sailor Moon and... well... this would be the second. ^^;

Ah, fair enough then. ^^;;;

I do wonder if more plot is being written into this series in order to attract back some of the older fans who might have "grown out" of Pretty Cure in past years. The whole fashion angle makes a bit more sense in that context as well. Little kids might not really appreciate that, but I bet you the middle schoolers and early high schoolers do.

They may be trying to broaden the fanbase a little... I can see how it would attract older fans as well as younger fans now.

I must say, I enjoyed this week's episode as well.

Little kids love playing dress-up. And the fashion club thing is clearly the main toy-selling avenue (aside from the usual henshin items/tamagotchi clones).

Speaking of which, I haven't been keeping up with that side of things recently. What are they flogging this season? I assumed the Tact's, the perfume (with refills!), and costumes based off their Precure outfits. What are they releasing to play up that fashion club angle? Seems a little hard to do that without having things where the connection to the show is very tenuous.

There's a playset for "Fairy Drop", Erika's store.

It works with the Cure figures (the same way they had a playset for Natts House).

I think there's also dress-up mix and match card sets like you see in this episode.

Episode 17 was fine, but the victim of the week was probably the lamest victim of the week to date. I'm sad they used one of the best Heartcatch animation teams on such weak character designs.

Regardless, episode 18 looks absolutely incredible. Can't wait.

Alright, own up, who else thought that the character of the week here was Kumojacky at first? The only bad thing about him is that he's unlikely to be a recurring character, given that he's not in the opening at all.

Not me. Ban was more of a Casshern and Seiya look alike then anything else. Though saying that a few of us here have been saying that Kumojacky is basically a character design that wasn't used for Casshern Sins.

Great episode. Worked out being a great homage to all the hot blooded titles of the past, especially with the the amount of old styles shown during the different manga scenes. I especially loved the scene where Tsubomi and Erika were acting out that scene. Truly epic.

Also i was wondering. Has anything official been said yet about the episode count for this show?

I'm guessing that there will probably be about 50 episodes or so... but I've not read anything relating to that so I wouldn't know. ^^;

This week's episode was splendid! I really liked Ban and his mom and the episode just seemed to breeze by without my noticing how quickly it went (which is usually a good thing). =w=
I also like their summer uniforms and clothes...

HeartCatch PreCure, well I've watched only 10 episodes as of now. I'm still downloading them from DoReMi Fansubs, I really need to catch up. My favorite Character in HeartCatch PreCure is Erika Kurumi, as you can tell from my Avatar.

They really should have splitted this little arc into 2 episodes. But this is a mahou shoujo, all monster of the week cannot be monster of the fortnight... -This episode could have been alot better if it wasn't the pacing... -The animation was decent. -Making clothes is serious business... -Itsuki's colour is yellow. When are you going to transform into Cure Sunshine? -Kumojacky steals the show with his 'Big bang Kumojacky Speciaaaaal!' I wish they adapted the manga where Kumojacky jumps out in a street fighter like costume... -Itsuki is a Pretty Cure fanboygirl. -The show keeps going how 'cute' the clothes are, despite they're incredibly average. If Shugo Chara manages to design some awesome clothes, why can't Pretty Cure do the same? -Next episode is on Erika! -Looks like some filler characters do reappear from time to time. Similar to Ojamajo Doremi. -Yup, there's more and more toys appearing...If I was eight, I would have rushed out to buy the heart link toy... -I remember seeing some Pretty Cure official plushies in Hong Kong couple of years ago. I hope they have Heartcatch ones this year..._ __________________

I love the old skool art style used through out the episode. -Summer school uniform! I prefer the winter one, the summer one looks kinda plain. -The hotblood injokes are great. -I swear it's impossible to finish off a manga that's not even inked within 2 days. Let's not talk about how frequent these manga competitions are, I'm sure Ban-kun could have waited for the next one. -Even Tsubomi and Erika subconsciously made a yuri yuri ending...What is Pretty Cure without teh yuri? -I thought Ban-kun's voice sounded familar, Okiayu Ryotaro. I only heard this voice of his once in this special radio drama he did with Onosaka Masaya (he played passerby B in one of these Heartcatch episode). Inoue Kikuko was easy to recognise (eternally 17 years old). For some weird reason, Pretty Cure managed to get some well known seiyuu for random filler episodes. Definitely alot more frequently then Shugo Chara. -Where's Cure Sunshine? Even figurines of her are already made... __________________
