@ Demi - But does it bump into anything? Having a theoretical weakness isn't the same as having an actual weakness as far as story goes. Sure Iceman COULD be weakened by fire, but if you place him in the north pole then that matters jack all.

Well he's on the ground. He rarely goes mach 3 at all. Think of it as the last resort. He has no problems maintaining 1.6 to 1.8 though.

Once again, sometimes there are discrepancy between claims and what happened.

Gospel is cited as "Next gen I.S." on paper, not some godlike being that took entire harem ensemble and deus ex machina to defeat.

“Ready?”

Even before she starts, Tsurugi could feel the piercing stares from her classmates. Her ready stance, her left arm across her front and her right hand holding onto the katana with its tip pointing diagonally towards the ground behind her. She panics, wondering what else could she do to make the feeling go away but nothing comes to mind other than going for it.

“Y-Yes, Sensei.”

*kraa-chak* Her grip on the katana becomes jittery. Laid ahead of her are targets unlike the previous ones, these are tall pole-like objects dotted across the perimeter of the arena similar to how the previous targets were arranged sans the varying elevations. This time, all the target objects are merely floating inches from the ground.

“Three… Two… One… Mark!”

‘Here goes nothing…!’

Her classmates are then greeted by a surprising sight; she runs towards the targets.

“What the…”

“She’s running?”

“Is she for real…?”

The two representatives of the class are just as surprised as the rest of the class, turning their heads to one another and back to the arena.

“You don’t have anything to do with this do you, Kirin?”

“…Nej.”

*KZIING-ZIING*

Despite being digitally-constructed from seemingly out of thin air, the targets felt so real that she could feel the soft impact force acting against the katana as she slices a couple of the targets apart in a single swipe. She proceeds to slash a few more targets then moves on to the next group, frantically trying to put aside other thoughts.

‘Why am I getting so flustered for…? Focus… Focus—!’

‘—Shinken.’

While the rest of the class remains confused, Kaori notices her sword proficiency. Every swing of the katana connects to the targets, not a single strike missed.

‘No doubt she’s a trained swordswoman, but there’s only so much a first-timer can do with an IS… Katami is—’

Something catches her eye. Tsurugi’s eyes are blanked out and frowned.

“Katami…?”

Her movements are swift yet erratic, occasionally planting a foot on one side and launching herself towards the opposite direction. The stiletto-shaped feet firmly lands on the ground without any signs of slipping or tipping over, inducing further disbelief for the instructor that Tsurugi’s utilizing a movement style which has long been known to be a common method for punishments.

Approaching another set of targets arranged in a circular formation, she twirls the katana into reverse grip with the edge outwards, throwing her hand in a wide arc across her front as she executes a complete 360-degree spin.

*ZIIIIIIIING—!*

The six pole-shaped targets surrounding her get cleaved in halves, bursting into miniature digital fireworks.

Watching in awe at her roommate’s apparent display of prowess, Kirin could only amount to a soft-spoken “Wow…”

Switching back to normal grip, Tsurugi rushes for the final set of target. Every step of the way accompanied with a heavy metal impact noise loud enough for both her classmates and instructor to tell that she has gone from running to sub-sprinting with the katana held by her right hand outstretched low across the right side of her waist.

“Hergh—!”

*KZII-ZIING—ZII-ZII-ZIING*

Tsurugi slices apart five more targets, leaving one last target standing directly ahead of her.

*kraa-kaa—* She brings the katana over her head and right shoulder upon closing in on it.

“SHIN—KEN!”

And she swings her right arm down hard as she yells, bringing the katana upon the target and cleaving it apart down its middle.

*kraa-taash* *tiit-tii—!*

Just as the two halves of the last target ‘explodes’, the timer stops and flashes her run time.

Worried over what she previously saw, Kaori glides to her student’s side while she’s taking slow deep breaths with her eyes shut.

“Katami…?”

“H-How did I do, Sensei…?”

Tsurugi opens her eyes. They’re normal eyes now, unlike the blank, lifeless one her instructor caught sight of. They both look up to the flashing run time and back to each other, Tsurugi’s expression being completely clueless while Kaori’s plain uncertain… then disappointment.

“Way too slow.”

“EEEEEH…?” She recoils in utter shock.

“The slowest record we have to date hardly touched the thirty-second mark. Yours did, two seconds over too.”

This one is made to go as fast as possible, and not even AkaTsubaki can match it in second shift (ByakuShiki on the other hand, can)

I did say nitpicking, didn't I? Oh wait, canon and fanon.

In canon: AkaTsubaki can morph it's own frame to choose between full speed or full mobility. On the other hand, with inexperienced Houki on board and being technically imperfect at the time, it's a lightning bruiser, but hardly the fastest or the most mobile unit during the battle.

ByakuShiki already got raw power more than any other I.S., it's correct however that the D.I.B. move are essential because it turned ByakuShiki from "FAST!" to "****ING FAST!"

In fanon: This I.S. is more or less a counterpart to ByakuShiki, especially when both of them are in second shift. So imperfect AkaTsubaki can't catch up.

Key words here, scientist regularly do something like that... and hardly respected.

On the other hand, they do a lot of stuff that's painful and do a lasting damage, physically or mentally. If it's for greater purpose and within consent of the test subject, it's actually considered admirable feat.

Hmm, have I told you about a scientist that brainwash a baby to fear the color white for the rest of his life because he's curious? Would you forgive him?

Yes, I know the baby Albert experiment, so you don't have to cap the entire sentence.

In retrospect, lets make it more specific: Two kids. One kid does something akin to an experiment because he's/she's curious about something from the other kid. Said experiment turns painful unintentionally.

Once again, I apologize. If I was the other kid, it will take time forgive the other, depending on how painful and how long the damage last.

For example, something like pinching probably will take a day or two at the worst point.

A unit that is faster than Akatsubaki, I can get it but Byakushiki being the only unit capable of catching up....huh?.

However, I will take it that Second Shift Byakushiki in your story is optimized for speed.

(Additional Note: Wouldn't it be better for them to plan how to deal with an extremely fast unit than to have Byakushiki being the only unit capable of catching up?)

Depend on how severe the experiment is and the victim's personality

I'm going back to lurk mode until I have some actual finished material. I won't tackle Metal Gear Chifuyu for a while (at least until I can function properly while looking at that gorgeously tight rear of hers for more than 15 seconds ).

(Un)Fortunately, my latest one-shot has Chifyu and Ichi heading out to Yamada's since their house AC is broken and the trio heads to a lake to cool off. One thing leads to another and... om-nom-nom-nom. ><

Working on 'Graduation' too. I might rename the 'Her Cake' fic into 'In A Word...' and just throw the one-shots based off single words that I come up with into it. Better than having 5 different one-shots scattered around FFNET.

I need to keep away from Zero/Blitz's rendition of Madoka anyway, she's gotten so very tempting as of late...
